Were you able to download any demos or other updates? Sometimes newer, more popular games have such a high download rate that the PSN servers cannot handle it. I would suggest trying an odd time and make sure you have nothing else connected or running on that wireless router. Is there any error codes that pop up? Those can be checked against the database to see exactly whats happening.
Hi the problem is not with your password so dont change any settings ok the problem is not your end everybody else is having the same problem, sony are having some down time at the minute to update their servers and software so just bare with them for a couple of hours and it will be back on shortly. dont try changing any settings as the problem is their end not yours

This is not nessesarily a solve issue, however it worked with mine, I had the same issues when playing games. I would be in the middle of gameplay, and the the error screen would pop up and say that the disc coudnt be read, All I did to fix the issue was open the unit, blow the dust off the disc drive motor and attatched ****, then I used some 3 in one oil on all the motors inside the system. So far it hasnt messed up (FINGERS CROSSED) I hope this helps.....I noticed with my gamecube that it would quit spinning the game, and after I made it past the gameplay loaded in memory it would error out because it needed to spin the disc and load more programing into memory.....if your disc dont spin you are guarenteed a disc read error
Your best option is to save yourself some money. I had a friend who's PS3 gave them the yellow light, then 3 beeps and just blinked red. I found a vid on youtube that shows you to fix it. It worked for the very first time. However, you will need to "void" your warranty on your PS3, also you will need to purchase equipment (heat guns, tools, thermal compound). Check out the video first to get a feel as to what you will need to do and see if you even wanna go down that road.
If not, you can sell it on Ebay (people are paying about $150-$200 for a broken system, you can then use that money to buy yourself a Xbox or something. Good luck in whatever you choose and let me know if you need anything else.
Open up the PS3 and then open up the Blu-Ray Drive and clean the lens with rubbing alcohol or isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip. I heard that lighter fluid works way better than rubbing alcohol and isopropyl alcohol, so try it on a q-tip to clean the lens. I am not responsible for any damages to your console.
