I have hooked up a RCA Digital box to a Tatung Tv M20CMG. I am trying to progam the remote( rcr312W) to the tv. The code that I have did not work and the instructions stated to contact this site to get a new code or to solve the problem.
I GOT THIS FROM THE RCA WEBSITE...IT WORKED FOR ME...THE CRUCIAL STEP IS TO KEEP PRESSING THE REVERSE BUTTON DON'T JUST PRESS IT ONCE LIKE A LOT OF SITES SAY TO DO. I HAD TO PRESS IT A FEW TIMES, AND THEN IT TURNED THE TV BACK ON AND THE REMOTE WORKED!!! MY REMOTE WAS THE RCA RCR312W...TV IS AN OLDER ORION
TURN ON THE COMPONENT (THE TV, DVD, ETC)
HOLD THE TV (OR DVD) BUTTON AND THE ON/OFF BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME. IT WILL STAY LIT.
PRESS THE PLAY BUTTON EVERY FIVE SECONDS until the component turns off.
Each time the Play button is pressed, the illuminated ON-OFF button blinks ten times and a block of 10 codes is sent to your component. This process continues until all the codes in the Code Lists have been searched. If the component has not turned off after all codes have been searched, the illuminated ON-OFF button blinks four times, turns off, and the Auto Code Search Entry method is exited.
When the component turns off, press and release the REVERSE button, then wait two seconds to see if the component turns on again.
If the component does not respond, continue to press the REVERSE button EVERY TWO SECONDS UNTIL THE COMPONENT TURNS ON again. This will isolate the correct code in the last block of codes sent. Each time the REVERSE button is pressed, the illuminated ON-OFF button blinks.
If the REVERSE button is accidentally pressed after the component responds, press and release the FORWARD button. Wait two seconds to see if the component turns off again.
To save the new code, press and release the STOP button.
The illuminated ON-OFF button turns off. You must press the STOP button to save the code.
I was having trouble getting a Universal Remote to work with the ILO V23DLWX (26" LCD). Eventually I got it to work with a Logitech Harmony. Those remotes are programmed through USB on your computer, so Logitech is able to update their database with new models. The thing even controlled my air conditioner. You just put in the model number of the device and it does the rest. By the way iLO's are horrible and even if you can get a remote to work eventually the power supply will go and it is near impossible to reach a human at that company.

Codes to check with RCA TVs, with RCA RCR312W model remote control are: 10000, 11447, 10051, 10093, 10679, 11047, 11147,
11247, 11347, 11781, 12002, 12187. If you wish to get more setup codes and setup procedure to many other popular brand remote controls, check these sites.http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts or type in the brand name and
model number to of your set, to its search box, and press 'Enter' or
view it in Mosaic / Timeslide option.
Which RCA remote are you using? RCA Universal remote codes are available at the code finder: http://rcaaudiovideo.com/remotecodefinder/ . Enter the model and then the device in the two drop down menus then click Search.
For example the Zenith codes for the
RCR312W are 11423, 10017, 10463, 11265, 10178, 10030, 11145, 10145, 10092, 10016 .
Please note that codes programmed in the remotes are usually limited to those for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your TV is newer than your remote, you may need a new remote.
The word from RCA technical support is that the remote for the L32HD31R operates on a different frequency and there is currently NO universal remote on the market that will work with the set. They say that they have plans to market a universal remote and that they are working with other manufactuers of remotes but there is no resolution or time frame available. In short, you will have to use two remotes and keep checking the RCA website for a breakthrough.
I'm not sure that I would have bought the TV if I'd known.
I just got the same remote to work. I did the auto scan method in the instructions. turn on the tv, hold the tv and power button on the remote down until it stays lit. Then press the play button, the remote will blink 10 times, press play again and the tv should turn off in a few blinks. then when the remote finishes blinking, press the reverse button until the tv turns on again, when the tv turns on, press the stop button. Hope this helps!
Any TV hooked up to a cable or satellite box can only "see" one channel...the set-top box (STB) converts the channel you are watching to (usually) Ch. 3 or 4. With cable you can split the input if your TV has 2 RF inputs, with a dish that won't work.
That's why the TV stays on Ch 3 and the STB changes to whatever you want to watch.
