Question about Euro-Pro Sewing Machines

1 Answer

I have an Euro-Pro 385X model. The top thread doesn't grab the bottom thread. I've re-thread and checked to see if the bobbin was in correct and it is.

Have you changed the needle? use good quality thread.

I am having the same problem. The needle either doesn't go down into the bobbin area far enough to pick up the thread or it goes down but the metal of the bobbin casing stops it from catching the thread. My mom said it might be the needles, but I've tried other needles and I still can't get it to catch the thread from the bobbin. Any suggestions? I am using Singer needles and quality thread.

I have a euro pro shark sewing machine. I just changed the thread for another project and cannot get the needle to pick up the bobbin thread. Any ideas?

Try installing a brand new needle. Bent/damaged needles will sometimes not pick up the bobbin thread.

Make sure the machine is threaded correctly. Check the bobbin--ie, it is turning the correct direction in the bobbin case and is threaded properly through the bobbin tension.

You might also try pulling the bobbin thread up to the top before beginning to stitch.

How to bring up bottom thread

Be sure you leave a 3-4" tail on the bobbin when you insert it. Hold the end of the top thread, turn the fly wheel toward you until the needle goes down into the bobbin, grabs the bobbin thread and pulls it up. Take both threads toward the back of the machine and pull out about 6". Hold both threads as you take the first stitch in your fabric.

I have a Viking/Lisa Model. I am having trouble with my tension and I am not sure if it is the top or bottom. My bobbin thread is all of the sudden too loose.

I just bought a Viking Lisa, and also had to adjust the tension. Use the manual to make sure you've threaded the machine correctly and put the bobbin in correctly. (I wasn't getting the bobbin thread the way it needed to be.) Then gradually increase the tension on the dial inside the top cover, checking the bobbin stitches every two inches, ending up on about 4 1/2. If this doesn't take care of the problem completely, gradually increase the side tension dial, and between adjustments on both dials, you should end up where the stitches look good. Also make sure to use cotton thread; mine doesn't like polyester thread. :o)

The problem is likely the threading. Double check the threading, look twice or three times at the diagram. Even me, a tech sometimes threads a machine or serger wrong.

Make sure that you have the needle's flat side facing the rear of the machine, or else it will never grab the thread. Also, make sure you hold the top thread in your left hand until it grabs the thread and you pull the bobbin thread up

Needle won't grab thread from bobbin

Sometimes you have inserted the needle wrong, make sure that the needle faces the rear, if that is not it, try a new needle. Make sure that you have threaded the bobbin right, by your manual, and have at least a 6 inch tail, hold your top thread and move your handwheel towards you, not away from you and it will grab the thread. How to oil euro-pro 373?

Have you tried flipping the bobbin in it's case, so that the thread comes off the top of the bobbin instead of the bottom. Some machines are sensitive to one direction of the bobbin thread.

Bobbin thread breaks

Make sure your bobbin thread is turning clockwise as it sits in the bobbin case. There is a screw on the outside of the bobbin case you can turn with your thumb slightly to adjust tension. If you dangle the case from the thread and give it a light ****, it should move down slightly when doing so-an indicator of good bobbin tension.
