You have to access the router configuration page by typing the default ip address of the router http://192.168.1.1 in your browser when you hit enter it should pop up a login window asking for Username and password. by default from the factory Username should be left blank and the default password is admin
this will get you in the configuration screen click on the administration tab and there you will find the password boxes. make sure you type the same password on both window boxes then click save settings on the bottom
PS. don't forget your password otherwise you will need to reset the router by pressing the reset button on the back of the router and you'll have to repeat the whole process
good luck

I was tryng to create a password for my linksys wireless now i have no internet access

If you successfully added a Wireless password you will then need to re-setup the wireless connection with the security settings you entered in the router.

if you do not have these settings then you will need to an ethernet cable to make the connection and view the router settings.

Forgot login password

Overview If you have forgotten your Linksys password, you have a couple of options. You can try to use the default settings to log into the router settings and change your password, or you can simply reset the router and set it up again. Either way, you will need to create a new password to use in the future. Read on to learn what to do about a lost Linksys router password.
Try the Default You can try to log in to the Linksys setup page and create a new router password using the default user name and password. This will only work if you did not change the default password when you originally set up your router.
f0636833200caec5b4ef0a64a206141c19578565_small.jpg
Open a web browser window, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar. Do not include any prefixes, such as http:// or www. Press Enter or click Go. A dialog box will open prompting you for a user name and password. Try leaving both fields blank and clicking OK. If this does not give you access, type admin into the User Name box and Password into the Password box. Click OK again. If you succeed, you can configure your router settings again and create a new password. Read the first article in this series, Configuring a Linksys Router Settings, to learn how to do so.
Reset the Router
If you are unable to log in to the Linksys router setup page using the default user name and password, you do have another option to solve your lost Linksys router password problem, which is to reset your router. 3d1cb9ca10deccfc3b6a854cda8b29a7cd240d6d_small.jpg

Look for a small Reset button on the back, front or the bottom of your Linksys router. The location of the button depends on the router model, so look carefully. As a precaution the buttons are small and inconspicuous, so that users do not accidentally reset their routers.
Once you have located the Reset button, press and hold it for at least ten seconds. You may need to use something with a small point, such as the end of a paperclip or a pencil tip to depress the button. Release the button and wait for the router to start back up. This will restore the router to its initial factory settings as it was when you first set it up. You will need to configure it again and choose a new password. Refer to the first article in this series for instructions on how to do so.

How to set a password?

  • Access the router's default configuration address through your Web browser by entering this address: http://192.168.1.1 (see Resources). Do not enter a user name. Enter "admin" for the password. That process works for all new Linksys routers. If you have changed the user name or password in the past, use the user name and password that you created.

  • 2

When the configuration screen opens, click on the "Wireless" tab and select "Wireless Security" to view the router's current security password. The "Security Mode" field will say "Disabled" if you do not have a password to secure your network.

  • 3

Select the appropriate encryption type from the "Security Mode" drop-down menu. Linksys routers offer WEP and WPA encryption. WPA encryption allows you to use a single password to access the network. WEP encryption creates 10- or 26-character keys that act as your password. Some of your wireless devices may only utilize a certain type of encryption. Determine which protocol is best for your network.

  • 4

Enter a password that will be required to access the network. For WPA encryption, you can write your own password. For WEP encryption, click the "Generate" button to create passwords that can be used to access the network. Write down your passwords and keep them in a secure location.

  • 5

Click "Save Settings" to confirm your changes. Your network will now be secured and will require a password for access.

  • 6

Click the "Administration" tab to create a password to access the router configuration page itself. Be sure to change the password from the default "admin." Reenter the password for confirmation in the next field. Click "Save Settings" to confirm your new password.

yippers, that happens, use your cell phone number next time. So you need to log into the router and create new wireless security password, and change channel to 11 or so and free up interference with wireless land line phones.

Have you already setup the router? If so then you need to get the (WEP) password you had created. If not you might want to open up a browser window and in the url address window type in the following:

    192.168.1.1

A username and password prompt will open and this is where you would place the password "admin" into the password area. Leave the username blank.

You then need to go into the settings and set you Security for the wireless portion. That key would be the one you will use when the psp ask for the password.

    Hope that helps you out!
