This oven has an electric thermostat control and it is most likely shorted out or the contacts are melted shut......replace the control switch that temperature knob is on it has two wires going to the gas valve.

I have a gas stove/oven, when I turn on the oven the pilot light comes on but the burners don't ignite to heat up the oven. was told that is was not the element if I have a pilot light ????

Heater elements are found in electric ovens, you have a gas oven. It sounds like your main gas valve is not opening because the pilot would light it if it was open. It could be the gas valve itself of the flame sensor. Best to get a tech on it.

Hi, I own a Tappan oven..model #TGF364ASF..the

Hi an welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

If nothing lights... i.e burner or oven there are only 2 things that can cause this problem. A failed ignition module or a wiring problem. The wiring problem can be a simple short or a broken power lead. All of the stove top ignitors are in a series parallel connection and if one of the burmer control shorts you loose the stove top. With nothing is lighting oven and burners it sure points toward the ignition module or power to the module.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Kelly

Note... The ignition module itself is not cheap.

Oven ingniter lights , smell gas but oven doesnt turn on

Hello- Ignitors may 'light' yet not reach proper resistance and temperature, causing improper gas flow past valve. If resistance is below 4 ohms, ignitor is bad. Part is 40-75$ at local app. parts store. Fairly easy to replace. Hope this helps. -Thanks- ED

Maytag gas oven quit working

Sounds like the ignitor is bad. They get weak and stop opening the valve completely so it may cause the gas smell.

Pilot light on GE oven, less than 8 years old keeps going out

the pilot and burner are usually covered, so it's doubtful that grease buildup would be a problem. it's probable that the thermocouple is defective or not positioned in the flame properly. the thermocouple tells the gas valve that there is a flame and it's okay to send gas through and the oven lights. if the t-couple is bad, it's fairly cheap to replace. however, if you could smell the gas odor from downstairs, the gas valve itself could be bad and that is not cheap to replace. get a competent repairman to check it out and turn off the gas while your'e waiting. you could have an explosive situation.

KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

bad oven ignitor is the most common cause of bake failure, located onthe side of hte burner bar itself, if youd like with a multi-meter, you can check the wires leading to the ignitor for 110v. if you have power and nothing was glowing from ignitor theres your problem

Hotpoint Gas oven doesn't light

Is the gas valve easy to replace on a gas oven?

Brand new gas range

i would look into the valve/regulater at which you connected the gas line, off to the side or somewhere on the regulater itself there should be a shut off for the oven control, simply flick to open positon and you should start right up. it would shut off gas to oven but allow burners to light.

Ge gas oven with electronic ignition

yea sounds like you have a bad oven ignitor, tell tale signs are not heating past warm, smells gas, too long to cook, popping noises while cooking. Id replace that ignitor. Although it might appear to "glow" not glowing strong enough
