Hello,

I will suggest you reset your GPS, to reset your gps, follow this steps, turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen, and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press “Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.
Once the Garmin GPS unit is reset, remember to place the device outside where there is a clear unobstructed view of the sky for 15 – 30 minutes in order for it to requires fix to GPS satellites. with this, this should fix the problem. But if the problem still persist,
Another thing you can do is click/ type this link below and run the "updater" This will update your systems firmware: http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

Take care.

My garmin 265w doesn't start it just turns onto the garmin logo and that is a half screen

Hello,

Doing a soft reset on the nuvi will usually get the nuvi up and running.
If there is a reset button on the bottom, press and hold it until the nuvi powers back on. If it does not have the reset button on the bottom, slide and hold the power switch to the left for at least 10 seconds.
Also running the Garmin WebUpdater and reloading the latest update will resolve most issues.
Download and Install WebUpdater.

My gps will not turn on

Hi undten,

I wonder what's going on with all the Garmin reset and failure to powerup problems during the last few days...it must be the water...

Try these steps for powering up and resetting your unit.

The Garmin Nuvi 265 and most other 200 series GPS receivers are normally reset as follows:

The reset button is located on the right rear-backside of the unit. Press a blunt non-metallic object or a cut off toothpick into the small hole and hold for approximately 15 seconds. The unit should do a fresh reboot. Sometimes these GPS units can be reset by sliding the Power key to the left for 10-15 seconds to completely shut the unit down. Then, do the same procedure for 10-15 seconds again, to power it back on.

It would be best to assure the unit has external power, and hopefully a full battery charge, for best results. Also you can download a complete manual from this link for more info:

http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/nuvi205_OwnersManual.pdf

Let me know how this turns out, and if I can help you further.

Regards,
Bill

Downloaded and installed Bluetooth firmware update - Won't Pair

I recommend rerunning the webupdate software available below, which was updated March 30, 2010. Run through the update steps again.

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin 265WT WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.
After successful webupdating, a hard reset is often helpful at this time, too.

I hope that helps.
