The dryer coils have failed. They tend to fail as they heat up. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that should help http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroublevideo.html

Can not get pilot to light on estate by whirlpool gas dryer

The pilot will only turn on for a couple of seconds while the gas comes out to create the flame for the heat to do its job. The pilot is a ceramic fuse that will not stay on at all times. It will click as a sign that is activating (you should see a red glowing light) and ready for the gas/ propane to come out ( the flame will stay on approx. two to five minutes), then it will turn off . Repeating itself many times throughout the cycle. It this is not happening you might need to replace the fuse. Good luck

I have a Maytag Model PGR5710BDW gas range. The bake igniter lights up and the gas ignites after 2 minutes or so. Then the flame goes out after a few seconds and then reignites and this cycle repeats ...

Hello,

Yes it is the igniter its weak and can not stay within normal range to stay on allowing the flame to stay on.

The part number for that igniter is 74007498 it can be purchased at your local appliance parts store on online at
searspartsdirect.com

Heats but wont stay heated

If the flame come on to start with, but then goes out and won't come back on I would suspect you have a bad coil on the gas valve.
If you see the flame cycle on and off, but the flame does come back on again this is normal. The flame needs to cycle on and off and not be on steady or the dryer would get to hot.
If the flame is cycling ok and the cloths just don't get dry then you need to check your dryer and vent for lint build up.

The igniter comes on, lights the flame but the flame only stays on for about 5 seconds and then the flame shuts off. About 1 minute or two later this cycle repeats itself.

There's a heat sensor that's in the path of the flame. It's supposed to detect when the flame is lit properly so you don't fill your house with unburned gas.

I'd bet that sensor has gone south, or maybe the wire going to it.

What brand/model is it? A diagram and parts listing might come in handy.

Dryer starts with heat. After 10-15 minutes, when dryer calls for more heat, here a metal clicking noise, flame does not ignite. When it's clicking, I can look down the back from the top and see a glow....

Your gas valve coils are defective. Part #694539 and 694540 are required. Once the coils get hot they collapse internally and the gas valve shuts off. This is a common problem when valve coils get weak from use.

My gas dryer starts but then the flame goes out the flame stays on for about 5 minutes the goes out

The flame should cycle on and off in response to the thermostat. If it is going out and not coming back on several minutes later then the exhaust vent may be clogged. Check the lint filter and exhaust vent all the way to the vent outlet to make sure they are not clogged.

Dryer does not stay hot

Hi, Check the 4" venting to the outside and make sure it is clean.
Some model dryers have a small cap on the front lower panel that you can remove and watch the flame cycle. If later in the cycle the ignitor glows and the turns off before the flame cpmes on, the coils on top the gas valve need replaced.
I hope this helps you.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Heat kick on then off

Check the thermostats. They work when cold but will not reset once warmed up.
