Wireless drivers

If you have just re-installed the operating system without installing the manufacturer's drivers from the CD that should have come with your computer, you do need the drivers. Some viruses disable network capability. Otherwise, the drivers originally installed should be there. Have you verified that the wireless is turned on? Most laptops have either software or hardware switches to turn off the wireless for battery power conservation. Verify that the wireless indicator LED is on. If it is not, find the switch and ensure it is in the on position.
If you are missing the drivers for both wired and wireless networks, go to the Asus support site (on another computer), select Downloads for your computer and download the drivers. Save them to a USB memory device to transfer them to your netbook, then install from there (you may have to copy the files from the USB device to the netbook's hard drive to get the installer to work properly). I would have given you a direct link to the driver, but you didn't tell me what your operating system is.

Why won't sylvania netbooks stay connected to wireless while other computer will.

Try checking with your wireless provider to make sure you have a large enough connection to use two computers at the same time. If one pc is set to have priority on using the wireless connection over the netbook, it will bump it offline.

If your netbook is loosing the signal itself, try moving your router or modem to another position to see if it solves the problem. Keep your router/modem away from things like microwaves, stereo's and other electronics that can cause interference.

Where is the wireless switch on an advent netbook ? Lost connection...this is the message I get....

just find the switch of the wireless side of the angle in your netbook. if you find it, turn it on. or try to re install the installer of the wireless..... or just try to look at the taskbar if you see the wireless icon if its in there, if no, so the wireless is missing so you need to reinstall the software of the wireless, so that you can connect... and after you install it. you can see the icon of the wireless on the taskbar... ok? thats all...

I don't know how to switch wireless on, on my netbook. There is no visible switch, and when I try to view wireless networks it doesn't see any of the available networks.

As i know, on acer netbook you have to switch on your wireless by pressing Fn key with one of the f keys, look from an antena icon on this key or go to control panel open network connections and right click on wireless connection and click enable.

I am finding problem in connecting wi fi in my lenvo laptop

Welcome to Fixya

Common cause of this is the wifi switch is in OFF position. Check the wireless switch of the laptop that is located either infron of the laptop where LED indicators are, or on the side of the laptop. The switch ON position has an embossed computer icon with signal on it. Make sure that the switch is set to that position.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Do i need to buy a external modem for my netbook to go online

First you need to check if your netbook has a wireless switch, it used to be in front or by the side or in front of the laptop, if it does, all you need to do is to turn it on, and if there is a wireless network around, then you will be able to connect to the internet.

You can also the control panel to see if the netbook has a wireless switch and where it is located on the netbook, and that will simply tell if you do have wireless service on your netbook.

From the sides of the netbook, there is an internet port, if there is no wireless switch, then you can connect any local connection available in the internet port that is by the side of the netbook.

But you need to ensure there is a local connection somewhere, and the router is working correctly, then you can use the local cable connection, but if there is none, then you will have to buy an external modem for the netbook to go online.

I hope this helps.

I am unable to connect my acer aspire to a my existing wireless connection

I have two Acer Aspire One Netbooks: x1 10.1" and x1 8.9". The switch located on the very front right edge of these Netbooks is quite tricky to get it to actually switch the WiFi radio ON / OFF. Double check that switch position and since it is spring-loaded, you will have to try to see the tiny green light flickering if WiFi radio is active. The green ON (active radio) lamp is TINY and dim at best even when Brand new.

Also, if I have had the radio OFF and / or the Wireless connection 'disabled" on purpose, both of my Netbooks require a full hard boot before they will again connect to WiFi.

Hope this helps!
Good Luck
