It is because of the dirt that reached under yhe ball .if you can remove easily your phone's trackball then takeout that ball and clean it with a soft cloth an put it back. otherwise i will recommend u to take it to the service centre if u are not comfortable in this.

Black berry roller ball not working

the trackball may need to be clean or replaced...so if you know how to clean it try that first , if that does not work then buy a new trackball and have it installed.

My black berry curve; and its ball is not budging; what is wrong with it?

If the ball is not moving at all more than likely it has debris in it. You can use about 10-20psi of air pressure to blow out the track ball.

If the ball moves and it's not working it's either a bad trackball unit. Or the phones has gotten wet usually.

The ball won't scroll down

Have you removed the ball at any time? If it is put back in wrong, it could cause this. If not, the ball assembly itself might be bad. You can find them fairly cheap on eBay.
