Question about Fuji FinePix S1000FD Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have a FujiS8000fd FinePix camera. I always was able to download photos until yesterday when the camera read Communication error. I am wondering if the software within my computer "erased" due to no fault of mine (so far as i can tell) 'when i added a Lexmark printer a few days ago? Also, i do not have a CD ROM to reload (I cannot find where I put it) the Fuji software if there ever was any on my computer.

Happens to everyone. Time to start using a card reader instead of the camera.

Communication error with camera and computer Fuji FinePix A350. Cannot download pictures from camera to computer.

Hi,

I highly recommend that you instead consider using a card reader to move the photos or videos to your computer. Card reader's do not require software (although Windows 98 and earlier may require drivers), are very inexpensive, are much faster downloading files from the camera, do not use the camera's batteries during the download, and are much less prone to file corruption of the photos during the download.Really, it would be better for the camera user if one of these was included with the camera instead of the cable and bundled software. You place the camera's card in the reader, plug the reader into the USB port, and your computer sees it as a hard drive. You simply copy/paste or drag/drop your photos onto your hard drive. For this simplicity, most professional photographers utilize card readers exclusively. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache if you convert to using one of these. Also make sure that you get a reader that is clearly stated capable of reading your card, particularly if you use SD-HC, XD, CF, or MS cards.

Thank you!

USB COMMUNICATION ERROR

Use a card reader to download your pics to a folder you create on your desktop.

USB COMMUNICATION ERROR!

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as iPhoto.

SD card Protected

It sounds like the tiny locking switch on the SD card has accidently been set to "lock". Remove the card from the camera and slide the switch to the opposite position. That should do it.
