Question about Ricoh Aficio 2022 All-In-One Laser Printer

Aficio 2022 connected to computer by parallel port

I have had this aficio 2022 for less than 2 years and have less than 20,000 copies. I only have used it as a copy machine . There is no network card , or ethernet port , but there is a printer parallel port . I now want to use it as a printer so I connected it to a computer , downloaded the drivers , and the computer says the printer is installed fine . The problem is that it will not print , if I unhook the parallel cable the computer doesn't sense that anything has changed , its as if the parallel port doesn't work . I took of the back of the copier to see if maybe it was a dummy port that led nowhere , alas it is wired to the board. Below where the port connects to the board there is a red blinking light above a small switch with 4 tiny switches , what is wrong with my parallel port ,

Hey Bubbabear,

I've got a Rico Aficio 2035
1.) It does have a hard drive installed (doc server)
2.) There is not a memory card installed
3.) There are no pinter buttons on the control panel

The rest of the scenario is the same...IE1284 Parallel port, but does nothing...

There is no print feature on your copier the parallel port is standard if the print option was installed you would see a serial and ethernet port sorry. -Carl

It could be disabled. Another thing you might want to check is the following:

  1. Does your copier have a hard drive connected
  2. Is the memory card installed on underneath your hard drive.
  3. Is there a printer button enabled on your control panel.

Ricoh aficio 2022 replace photoconductor unit


Photo conductor unit is the drum unit inside the copier . It contains developer and toner which are the ink as some people refer to it. It is a consumable part and needs to be replaced every 60k copies but can and dies last longer. You can ignore it and once copy quality is ok I wouldnt bother changing it but you will eventually need to replace it.

At least must have network card, USB or parallel port.
I don't think so... If it as a parallel port probably your computer do not have it.
So... The question is!!!!
Is it worth it???? Just think about it will make you headache.

This is the code on the mach sc 545


Hello sir; The code sc545 means fuser unit temperature too low it can be reset;
press "clearmode" "107" and thenpress and hold "clear/stop" key untill display "copy sp" show up, then turn power off and back on.

Make sure your copier has a parallel port attached to it.  Then you simply need a parallel cable to connect it to your computer.  Some computers may not have a parallel port on them.

Ricoh 1022 as network printer?


You can add a wireless print server to it.  Has to be a Parallel based one.  Printing can be done that way but no network scanning can be done if you have that feature enabled.
