More than likely you need to reinstall the drivers for your soundcard. You did not specify what motherboard you have but you can go to either the motherboard manufactuer for example www.msi.com or the computer brand site such as www.hp.com
and download the sound drivers and any other drivers that might be missing since the drive was wiped clean. If you cannot connect to the internet from that computer, then do it from another computer and download the drivers to a flash disk or external hard drive. Good Luck!

Have you check if the audio driver is installed on the PC? you can see that by accessing the device manager of the PC. it will list all the driver that is installed on the PC. check it out on the audio driver portion.can you also try to plug in a headset or an earphone & check if you can get sound.there is also a possibility that the speakers are not functioning.

Only one speaker working in hp dm1

This could ba a hardware problem with the power connections or dust

Laptop speakers often suffer the consequences when you snack while using the laptop, usually while surfing the Web.

Small particles of chips, crackers and other sources of crumbs easily fall into the little holes of your laptop's speakers, therefore causing sound distortion.

This sound distortion problem can be fixed by cleaning out your laptop's speakers with a safe process that does not require any dismantling of the laptop.

Turn the laptop off, unplug the power cord and remove the battery to lower the risk of damage to the computer and electric shock.

Wipe away any exterior debris using a cotton swab.

Dip the cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and swab away to remove any sticky residue.

Rubbing alcohol dries quickly, making it ideal for cleaning electronics.

Use a hand-held vacuum with the brush attachment to vacuum out any debris in the speakers.

A full-sized vacuum may be too powerful and can damage the speakers.

Reinstall the battery, plug the computer back into the electrical outlet and start it up.

hope this helps

Everything is pluged in correctly. And when i go to the control panel> Sounds, speech, and audio devices> sounds and audio devices> volume, it says that their pluged in and work, but i dont here...

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
also
click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it
if his does not fix the problem
click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any further volume control settings you will need to right click on the volume icon system select adjust volume

click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer
hope this helps you

Can't get speakers to work.

Hi...

Mostly of the sound driver now are need a compatibility if your installed driver is not compatible it will affect the hardware. It's better that you will know the model of your motherboard, if you know the model you need to search the model and download the sound driver witch is compatible.
For now the all motherboard are High Definition Audio.

Good luck!

1 speaker only working. why

I like your thinking...that's just too simple. Nope you must plug the left speaker into the right speaker and pug the power supply into the right speaker. Then plug the right speaker into the GREEN receiver.
That works if you have two speaker..(and/or a sub woofer) it you have four...five...then we use all of those pink, black, white, yellow receivers. But that is a lesson for another day...good luck my friend.
