Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

VB Outlook I am saving an email from Outlook to my hard drive. The format in which I save this mail is: Date,Time,Sender to Receiver,Subject.msg. My problem is that when the email was sent to for example 50 people, then the string that I create for the file-name is too short and all the email adresses are not listed. At this moment my code looks lik this: Set SubFolder = myOlApp.Session.GetFolderFromID(EntryID(I), StoreID(I)) On Error Resume Next For j = 1 To SubFolder.Items.Count Set mItem = SubFolder.Items(j) StrReceived = ArrangedDate(mItem.ReceivedTime) StrSender = mItem.senderName strReceiver = mItem. To StrSubject = mItem.subject strName = StripIllegalChar(StrSubject) StrFile = StrSaveFolder & StrReceived & "_" & StrSender & " to " & strReceiver & "_" & strName & ".msg" StrFile = Left(StrFile, 256) mItem.SaveAs StrFile, 3 Next j On Error GoTo 0 Next I ExitSub: It is the 256 that gives me problems, I do not know how to make the string longer

double click the e-mail to open it in its own window. Hit file save as and then select the folder you wish to save it in. Later if you double click that file it will open in windows mail, outlook or whatever mail program you are using.

Any email file I receive that has a pps attachment I cannot open

Ill ask the obvious first, do you have Microsoft Powerpoint installed? If you dont, you can download a free PPS viewer. Just Google "PPS Viewer" , download and install it. If you do have PowerPoint, then try saving the pps file to your computer locally and try opening it? Please always post your questions with as much details as you can. What email client are you using? Gmail, Yahoo, Thunderbird, Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, etc. Its hard to answer questions with hardly any info. Thanks!

File with extension *.dbx

DBX files (files with *.dbx extension) are the files where Outlook Express stores email messages. They can be found in so-called Outlook Express Store Folder named"Inbox.dbx," "Sent Items.dbx," etc. To determine Store Folder locationclick Store Folder button at Tools>Options>Maintenance in OutlookExpress. DBX files may be copied to another folder in order to backup e-mail messages.

How to open and edit DBX files
To open Outlook Express dbx files you just should select a file anddouble-click on it. The software will be open a .dbx file, scan dbxfile and visualize e-mails.
How to extract emails from DBX files
It is almost impossible to extract DBX files manually. However, there are tons of DBX extracting software over the Internet, such as DBX to EML.
