Question about Computers & Internet

I recently received the Westell A-90-750015-07 model modem. It works well for a little while, and then suddenly I will get a problem loading page, with "Server Not Found" message.

I would really appreciate help with this problem, my internet provider is through Verizon DSL, if that helps... thanks!

  • karlablue55 Sep 13, 2010

Thanks! I will try that in a while and let you know if it worked!

I do have the latest firmware, I am still a little confused on the configuration settings, I had my ethernet cable connected to the E1uplink on my modem, and I changed it to E2, are the settings different for that??

  • karlablue55 Sep 14, 2010

It happens constantly though, and the only way it works back up again is if I turn off my modem and then turn it back on again..

  • karlablue55 Sep 15, 2010

So you reccomend I configure my modem to PPoE or PPoA settings, right now it connects through DHCP, but maybe since I have it configured to DHCP and routed bridge that's why it's disconnecting all the time??

For that you need to RESET it. Press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of modem then all settings defaults. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Karla,
This happens on the internet. It may not be the modem's fault. Due to heavy load on one site it may not be available for some time or at that instant. So, try again and you may get to it. This happens to very popular sites and is no reason to feel bad about.

Hey!

Follow these steps:
1) Make sure you have the latest firmware version for your device... Get the latest (v5.1.0.2) from here.
Full reset (to default values) and re-configuration are advised.

2) Make sure you've configured everything correctly. Consult the User Manual, your ISP - or me - for more assistance.

3) If problem persists, contact your ISP so they'll eliminate any possible misconfiguration on their side...

Good luck,
Pelu.

    Hi again!

The physical configuration (settings) is correct; the ethernet cable could be connected to any of the 4 uplink ports available! If I understood you correctly, that same cable is connected to a computer on it's other side, rather than to another modem. (If it does connected to another modem it must be connected to the 1st ethernet port **).

I suspect that the problem lies within the software configuration/settings, which are made through the device's setup interface...
I-d advice you to completely reset the device (by pressing the Reset button on it's rare side - between the DSL connector and the Ethernet ports - for 30 seconds; Wait another 30 seconds afterwards so the device will be fully restarted), and reconfigure it as described in the User Guide (pg. 31, and then pgs. 35 to 41). Make sure to select the connection type as "Always On" (see page 39).

Another Important issue is Microfilters. EVERY telephone port in your place, which uses the same phone line as your internet, must have a microfilter connected into it (even if there's no telephone device connected to it!). See also section 5.6/pg. 11 of the user guide.

    Waiting for your reply...
    Good luck again,
    Pelu.

** Different settings should be configured in that case, as mentioned in section 6.1.3/pg. 15.

Westell Modem will not connect to internet

Shut down your firewall. Hook your modem up directly to your computer. Hit the reset button on the modem and follow the instructions on the screen. You have reactivate the modem and verizon has there own program and it should start up automatically.

Westell versalink 327w from bellsouth can't connect

Howdy,

I do not think this modem will work for you. Contact O.T.C. to be sure. For a few details...

I presume that you can access your Westell wireless modem/router 327w with the IP address of - 192.168.1.254. (Or you can simply type "launchmodem" in the address bar - (one word - no quotes)) This will definitely get you in. You will then see the setup menu. If you see the Bellsouth FastAccess Internet Service logo then you know you definitely have a Bellsouth modem.

Now, let's presume, you are using a Westell wireless modem/router 327w made for Bellsouth/ATT. If this is the case, as stated above, you will see the Bellsouth Logo on the setup page. Additionally, it is stated on the page below, that you cannot use a Bellsouth modem/router for any other ISP (Internet Service Provider) This is due to the Bellsouth/ATT firmware that Westell builds into this modem/router.

This is the page link:
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/bellsouth/3.141_Westell_327W__wireless__Info#13772

This is the relevant quote:
"The BellSouth supplied 327W (model C90-327W30-06) is made exclusively for BellSouth FastAccess. They are functionally different from retail Westells (or any model designed for use with other ISPs) and the firmware between them are not compatible and can not be interchanged."

That being said, you still might attempt to use this 327W with orlando telephone company but I do not know if it will work. (Doubtful...) I use the Bellsouth 327W and it is GREAT. (With Bsouth/ATT) Good luck.

P.S. - Please be advised that Westell does manufacture an identical 327W that does NOT have the Bellsouth/ATT firmware.installed. This is the "generic" version I suppose but I have no experience with this one. If you need more just ask. :)

Good luck,

J

Set to work with centurytel instead of bell south

Howdy - You may have a two fold problem here. First of all the Westell wireless modem/router 327w has the access IP address of - 192.168.1.254. Blinking light on Westell 6100 DSL modem

Blinking light means that firmware on your DSL modem just got updated. The modem is pinging the Networ/Computer connected to it. If you open your Modem Page 192.168.1.1 you will see the difference, unless you never have done it before.

Replacing older model Westell ADSL modem with newer one.

Plug your old modem back in and access it via the browser. Either dslrouter or 192.168.1.1 in the url seacrh bar. Go to configure and write down all the ISP setting and LABEL what sections in the configure they go to for your ISP. Still with me?
The plug in your "new" modem access it the same way and enter the ISP and modem settings from the old modem; it should work.

Modem models need to be same//

no, you can just go ahead and have it changed if it's still under warranty... and it really doesn't matter if it has a different model number.... as long as it's the same model of the modem, westell F90 modem... however, if you start to use and you need to connect it with a router, it needs to be configured properly or else it won't work and maybe destroyed, okay!!!!
