On that zenith R52w36 can it also keeps burning out a 1.5 ohm resistor. Could my ic cause this?

What is resistor circuit location number that blows out?
Number could be like R2729, R2735, Rxxxx etc
I have schematics to find its correct value and possible cause of blowing out.

    Please recheck tv model and brand as there is no RK46 in Zenith R52W36 schematics
    Let me know correct model and brand info of your tv to check RK46 in related manual.

    OK, RK46 correct value is "1.8 ohms 1W" and possibly IK04 (STK392-110) would be cause of blowing it out.

If the resistor is found burned; there should be a reason. IC short or some sort of that. Without rectifying the fault; if you replace it with an other resistor; it too will burn out, sometimes cause more fault to set. Check for the reason first. I have a 53 inch hitachi proj tv...model 53UWX10BA....and am doing some of my own repairs...but one of the 1.8 Ohms resistors keeps burning out. The solders look good...I have tested everything and can...


1.8 ohm are protect on convergence ics --stk-392-110 or stk-392-150---

Change both ics and make sure not shorted pins via solder connections.

How do i no if my resistors on my convergence bored are bad. is there a way of testing each individual one and i hear something abought fuses. could this be my convergence problem i am having


What seems to be wrong with your TV? You need a Volt ohm Meter to read resistors/Componets

Convergence ICs are big black ICs and will have PN on them ,example STK392-110
resistors in convergence should be 1ohm 1 watt.

I have a 53 inch hitachi ultravision #53UDX10B Its out of focus and when you press the magic focus button it trys then pops up with the # 4 in the corner is this a convergence problem or what ?


Yes, you have a convergence failure. Usually requires replacement of 2 X STK ICs and any burnt resistors associated with the function that is faulty.

Look at the user menu and compare with images on our Convergence Gallery. Try to adjust in the convergence adjust menu. Identify the functions that do not work and make note. When you replace the ICs, pay special attention to the low ohm resistors for the non-working function. They will be located near the colored plug associated with the non-working function. If red vertical will not adjust, check resistors near the red plug.

There are many posts and websites that offer "new and improved Convergence IC substitutes. My advice is to use the original part numbers and replace any burnt resistors with original values. Many ICs purchased on the Internet are very poor quality and do not work. Many users get substitute replacement ICs and never get their TVs working again.

If you have other electronics repair experience, this job may be done with some chance of success. If you have no experience, there are many secondary problems that can and usually do appear. Determining how to fix the secondary faults and how to correctly align the TV is difficult without prior convergence repair experience.

Some of the common problems encountered are:
1. Poor solder techniques, resulting in damaged PC boards or poor solder connections.
2. Poor quality or wrong parts installed and recognizing this problem.
3. Resistors open or burnt. Some resistors are weakened by the initial faulty IC. Replacing with a "good" IC and starting the TV causes the weakened resistors to burn up. IC may be ok but there are one or more open resistors that measured ok when ICs were being replaced.
4. Wrong ICs used, causing resistors to burn up.
5. Resistors that measure normal and become faulty when heated by current flow.
6. Recognizing that convergence circuit is repaired correctly and alignment is needed.
7. Major alignment in service menu required because data is corrupted by multiple tries of magic focus or manual adjustment while faulty circuit conditions exist.
8. Major alignment required because user adjusted centering rings or physically changed mechanical focus adjustment, then mis-adjusted convergence settings trying to correct mechanical alignment faults.
9. User has not connected plugs and connectors correctly and caused secondary damage or mis-alignment trying to correct secondary issue.

Physically replacing the ICs may appear simple but recognizing if a fault still exists or if correct repair is required causes many attempts at repair to fail. Keep it simple. Replace with good quality original part numbers, measure suspect resistors and adjust only what is necessary.

There are only 3 things to fix, IC failure, resistor failure and user induced secondary faults. Data processor and memory is bulletproof.

Zenith R60v26 has burnt resistor at RK5 on convergence board


Hello, I have the exact same issue with my R49W36, I replaced the convergence chips but there are also two 1 ohm resistors with the same color pattern as yours that are bad. I have looked all over and cannot find a 1 ohm resistor anywhere. Where did you find it?

There is no kit for your repair.If your original IC's = STK392-110...
quality Sanyo-made will cost you $14.00 - $16.00 each.If you buy Panasonic packaged IC's,the part # is C5AA00000203 and they cost about $30.00 each. Use an ohm meter,your eyes and nose to locate burned resistor(s).Usually one or two 6.8 ohm
1 watt light blue color a total of twelve, I think.....However,your next step is to order / purchase first grade IC's = Panasonic is going to be your best choice.........and some 6.8 ohm 1 watt
resistors.....

sounds like the convergence ICs and resistors due to the double image. You need two convergence ICs both STK392-110 ICs and the following six resistors. (2) 3.3 ohms 1watt resistors, (2) 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors. (1) 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors. (1) 3.9 ohm1watt resistor. You can get replacemnet ICs and resistors at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link.

Yes you need to replace both convergence ICs. They are both STK392-150 you will also need to replace the 6 feed resistors. You will need ( two ) 1.8 ohm 1watt metal film resistors.
( one) 3.3 ohm 1watt, ( 0ne) 2.7 ohm 1watt, ( one) 4.7 ohm 1 watt, and ( one ) 2.2 ohm 1watt . The resistors are all 1 watt metal film resistors. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link with free instalation instructions with pictures, plus free tech support.

Excessive brightness with retrace lines


Here are the values:
RY04 >>>> 68 ohms >>>> 1 Watt
RY04A >>> 47 ohms >>>> 0.5 watt
RY02A >>> 330 Ohms >>> 0.25 Watt.

All resistors should be 5% tolerance.
