Cannot install Windows XP Professional on Acer Aspire 4720Z Laptop

I have an Acer Aspire 4720Z laptop that came with Windows Vista. I do not want Vista and have succeeded in removing it from the system. But I cannot install Windows XP on it. The installer comes up with the message that it is unable to detect a hard drive on the system.

- I have some kind of problem. Only thing is, the pc just shuts down itself. I put the windows xp pro sp3 cd that i have downloaded from the net. Everything loads, I did a quick format and then it copy the new files. But half way till 80 porcent it shuts down. I have an ACER Aspire 5100, 1.8 GHZ, 1 GB DDR2 with windows vista home premium preinstalled. Do you guys think that I must change the drive mode too? I will try it but want to know. You have to integrate the SATA AHCI driver to your windows XP CD. By doing this you will be able to install the OS. The process of integration is given in the link below:

I can solve this problem by change the bioes seting press on F2 to get biose seting and change mod of hard in the secound minu into type EDI and save the change

well, i need help about my laptop acer aspire 2920z. my windows is corrupt then i have to install new windows again, i was so confused when i insert the winxp cd and it shows error on screen "setup is loading files[windows executive]"..i was tryin to wait a long time but the system is not responding..it was a hang..i think theres a problem in hardware, and not in the sofware..please help!
