If by alignment light you mean one of the door sensors light is out and will not come on when the sensors are pointed at one another you need new sensors. If this is not what you mean post back with a little more info.

How to get my garage door to open all the way?

Three blinking lights & door won't close by Candi
(Winston-Salem, NC)
Garage door will not open and close with remotes. Three blinking lights occur when we try to close door. What does this mean? It is a Linear unit.

I will assume you mean that your garage door will open with your remote but will not close. It should close if you press and hold the wall control button until the door is fully closed.

If that is the case, the 3 blinking lights indicate that your garage door's infrared safety beams are not properly aligned.

1) Check that the operator has power. The green lights on the sender and receiver should be lit.

2) If the receiver's green light is on, but the red light is off, the receiver has power but is not detecting the infrared beam from the sender. The red light might flash when the beam is partially detected. This can be caused by
mis-alignment or something blocking the beam.

Adjust the safety beam sender and receiver while watching the receiver's red light (stay out of the beam while aligning it). When the red light stays on, the beam is aligned and your garage door should operate normally.

http://www.linearcorp.com/pdf/manuals/LCO75.pdf

NOTE: If the receiver's red light remains off, check for:

1) Dirt on the receiver's lens,

2) Sunlight shining into the receiver's lens,

3) A short in the safety beam wiring (from staples or at the operator terminals).

Chamberlain garage door will not close

If your garage door will not close from the open position and reverses immediately or part way down there is a safety beam problem, usually there is a safety light on the opener which will flash when the safety beam is activated or faulty. Clean the photo beams with a clean damp cloth, check if the door now operates, if it does not, check that the safety beams have not become misaligned, there is normally a light on one of the sensors that indicates when they are correctly aligned, if the light is on it means they are not aligned, the light off indicates they are aligned. If they are not aligned try adjusting them, if this does not work they are probably faulty.

Sounds like a problem with the safety photocells, to confirm locate the where the safety input is on the opener and bridge out the terminals ( not the supply voltage terminals) if the door then closes the photocells are the problem.

The sensors have to see each other in order for the system to work. If the beam is interrupted, it will cause the door to go to the open position. It sounds like the sensors are out of alignment. When the door is closing, it moves a sensor slightly and this breaks the beam, door reverses and opens. Work the sensors so that they are both aimed perfectly at each other. I believe that the amber light will change to a different color when the sensors are aligned.

Hi, W/D here.

Check the alignment of the photoelectric door eyes, located at ankle height on either side of the door. Usually, something is preventing the light from reaching the other side (receptor), and check to make sure that the eye lenses are clean. (You cannot actually see the light beam). Check that the lights are on and (usually) green on both sides of the door. These are the indicators that show you that the sensors are working. If one has been knocked out of alignment, it can be re-aligned using a string line, and observing the lights on the light and receptor. Somewhat more common is that one of the wires is either touching the other, or has come loose. Usually, the wires are just twisted together at the eyes. Lastly, if you have no lights lit on the eyes, and adjusting doesn't resolve the issue, one may be defective. Replacements are available at Lowe's/Home Depot, and others.
Check your lights first, and look for something blocking the path of the light.

Best Regards, --W/D--

Hod do I align the sensor lights?

Your problem is not with the safety eyes. You have a stripped gear inside the opener. Take off the cover and you will have white shavings in the bottom of the cover. You can repair this with a liftmaster gear and sprocket kit.

Chamberlain Liftmaster Pro. Garage door Problems closing

The sensor eye - or more likely, the other end, the sensor light - probably got knocked out of alignment. The eye should have an LED on it - possibly one that glows green when it's ready to close or red when it's obstructed or out of alignment. Try adjusting the light until the LED on the receiver glows green.

Automatic Garage door reverses and automatically opens after closing

I can't believe it! My opener works fine a 10 degrees and above but below 10 degrees it would go down a little ways stop and go back with the light flashing. I checked the electric eye and found it would go out of alignment when the temp drop. Who knew!
I made the adjustment and it now works fine.
