Question about Gateway 838GM (RB838GM) PC Desktop

1 Answer

My computer has frozen up while i was searching for informatioon. When i rebooted my PC, it read that there is no OS, so i've runned the System Recovery Program and it managed to work, but then the problem has repeated once again, and now when i make the attempt to use System Recovery, it says it needs a User Partition, which is something i might be able to do, and halfway into the recovery process, it stops then redirects me to a blue screen that tells me that it has to shut because it has no OS or that files are corrupted. How to i fix it?

You are going to need to reinstall your operating system because some kind of virus has got you and your antivirus software has got the virus and removed it and by doing so it has also deleted required system files

How can i fix my frozen laptop?

Unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot. Can you be more specific? Frozen? Have you run a Anti Virus scan? A Malware Scan? Do you have to many running programs, overloading the CPU and Memory? Post the Gateway Model and the OS you are using. What were you doing when it froze? Video? Internet? Game? All of the above?

I WANT TO REBOOT MY NETBOOK

Reboot the computer and as soon as it turns on start tapping F9 repeatedly. Do this immediatly after hitting the power button. If Windows Starts to load - you will need to reboot and retry.

Hitting F9 should take you to the recovery partition option. If you select to run it - it will erase everything on your laptop and set it back to factory defaults.

If you have more questions, consult the manual that you can download here: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=20&s=1&m=Eee%20PC%20R101&os=17&hashedid=GhBUCjHj4BRr7ndV

Hope that helps!

I have a toshiba nb200 when i turn it on i get an error message saying'' the system is not fully installed. please run setup again''...what do i do?

It means Operating System was not installed completely. Do the followings:

1. Insert the CD or DVD of Operating System and then boot your machine.

2. Simply follow instructions to screen to complete the installation.

3. Note that an Operating System have TWO steps to complete before we decleare that OS is installed. In first step it format the hard drive, copy setup files from CD/DVD to formated hard drive in a temp directory. This step is called "SETUP". Your computer reboot itself after this step. It does not mean operating system is installed.

4. In 2nd step, make sure CD/DVD is still in your machine, just watch while OS starts 'INSTALLATION" . You will be able to view the progress.
OS might ask you input OS product key, computer name and some basic network information which you should have handy.

Once Installation is complete, your PC will reboot and NOW you have a full fledge OS on your PC.

The computer comes on but is frozen on Apple screen

I would try pressing f2 or f8 when first boots up, then change bios settings from first bootup device as cd rom drive, then hard disc as second drive, then place windows disc or recovery disc in pc, then reboot. and reinstall your software.

How do I reboot it? Compaq 5716 runs very slow Can't download anything paid for interent and the computer just freezes. I want to do a system restore where there is nothing on the computer like brand new.

There are different ways on how to reboot a computer. If your laptop is not operational like it's frozen or crashed with the mouse frozen, try the simple steps below:

1. The custom way to reboot your computer is to press and hold the power button until it shuts off. Then press the power again if you want to turn it back on.

2. If your computer is functional and you just want to reboot/restart it, click on Start then click on Turn Off and select Restart. It will restart your computer.

3. If you can't click on the Start button but your mouse is still functional, you can simply press the Ctrl + Alt + Del button on your keyboard to bring up the Task Manager. Then on the Task Manager window, click on Shutdown tab, then choose Restart.

4. If your computer wont turn off no matter what you do, like holding the power button and the steps above, try to unplug the power cable for few minutes then plug it back in. Try to turn on the computer again.

System Restore

Click on START > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

When you do System Restore, this feature will restore your computer's settings back to its normal or functional condition. You can just choose an earlier date where it was working fine. The good thing about system restore is it wont delete your recent saved files and data.

If you really want a clean hard drive/system like what you said (brand new), reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows Operating System is what you need. You need your Windows installation CD to do it. Click on the links below on how to reinstall your Windows Operating System.

Next step is remove hard drive and see if it is recognized in another computer. The Hard Drive could just be bad, but you need to rule out the motherboard drive controllers that could also be bad. Also try a known good drive in your system.

Please take the time to follow

1.) reboot computer and press f8 till you see something about safe mode. Please choose safe mode. Once in there got start run type msconfig and uncheck everything in startup tab
this should give you some room to breath
2.) get some internet and goto codebluehelp.co.cc/downloads.html
3.) download ccleaner, advanced system care, spybot search and destroy, and antimalware.
4.) install run and this should offer some major relief.

PC is frozen when I press WIN-key

Do you see the Hard Disk Light ON during the time your computer is frozen? If that is the case there maybe an issue with the Hard Disk Controller.

When you installed a new version of Windows XP, did you format your entire Hard disk? (Just to make sure that your computer doesn't have a viral infection?)

Also, is it that the computer freezes when you press Alt+Enter ...or is it like the computer freezes after you press the Windows Key and then Alt+Enter?

Have you tried the Alt+Tab Combination?
