Need a driver for Canon CP 400 printer with use with windows 7

Posted by on

  • petertaylor1 Sep 14, 2010

downloaded updated version of zoom browser printer still not working

I know canon does not support CP 400 on windows 7

Windows 7 is supposed to have drivers for all printers mine does not have for cp400

In devices and printers CP400 shown as unspecified, trouble shooting tells me no driver found.

Tried install printer and even after update no CP400 found to install

Is the problem something to do with Ports?

    regards

As you can see at this link (choose your operating system) Canon claims that there are no drivers for Win7 for this printer. That means (my oppinion) that either Win 7 already include the driver, or the drivers version for WinXp (or Vista) are compatible for Win 7.So from the same link choose WinXP oper. sytem (or Vista) and try to install them.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

    Peter,
The news are not good. Neither my computer with Windows 7 seems to have (from microsoft) any CP400 drivers even after live update. I suppose that sending an e-mail at canon helpdesk, including the serial number of your printer AND the date (aproximately) of purchase (if it's a new one, otherwise....), might help you. Sorry to tell you that you are in trouble and I think that Canon will reply that it's Microsoft's fault and vice versa.
In the meantime, have you tried the winXP drivers (or Vista perhaps).
The ports have nothing to do (as far as we know till now) with this
    case.

In case you think I might help you in another way, don't hesitate to post me a reply.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

    Thanks and regards

Peter, I just thought of something. When you try to use WinXP or Vista driver for CP400 do you double click on the installation file? If yes try this tip:
    - Right click on the extracted exe file, select properties
    - Go to the compatibility tab, select "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and in the dropdown box underneath select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" assuming that you are trying with Vista drivers
    - Choose OK to save the settings
    - Run the installer by double clicking on it and install as normal.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

    Thanks and regards

The Vista 64bit driver works for me on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. Download the Vista drivers and extract these. Rightclick CNYCPINS.EXE and set compatibility mode as Vista SP 2. Connect printer, and rightclick CNYCPINS.EXE it again and choose Run as administrator. Should work now.

Hi,
I believe window 7 don't need driver/software to communicate with the system (computer), win7 have inbuilt driver to communicate with printer, you don't need to install it separately. But you can try following things:-

  • First of all you need to un-install existing printer software from your system (Computer) if there is any, Restart your computer start downloading the driver for CP400 from here, Select operating system you are using, language & click submit, install it completely and again restart your system & connect your printer.

I hope this will solve your problem

Thanks..!!

SOURCE: vista driver for canon cp 300 printer

if Vista and 7 is unsupported by the printer manufacturer, you are pretty much out of luck. If Vista and 7 say the printer is unsupported or un certified, run the manufacturer software if you want.

You doult run in emulate mode ... but for as cheap as printers are these days, why would you want to run in that mode?

Does mpc 400 support windows 7 ?

Sorry to say but this printer don't have any Windows 7 driver for it so it wont work with Windows 7 because of that. Since the manufacturer did not release any update for Windows 7 for this particular model.
