The compressor was hot. The unit was at room temperature. I have emptied the refer and freezer I unplugged the unit to keep from burning up my compressor.

  • nugent993 Sep 13, 2010

The compressor was hot. I cleaned the coils and tossed out all of the food because the inside temperature was about 75 degrees. I don't know what a condenser is.

  • nugent993 Sep 13, 2010

OK then what card should I change out? Curcuit board ps2327740 or Electronic control ps557945? Or maybe you have a favorite.

  • nugent993 Sep 13, 2010

I agree. You are the expert that I am asking and hired for $12.00. So maybe I can purchase both cards and try them one at a time to see if they fix my problem. I could have done that myself without your advice.

  • nugent993 Sep 13, 2010

So here we are. What I need is an expert to help me find the correct computer card to fix my fridge. The last guy recommended that I ask a professional.

Hi Woodchuck! I just got back with some order out chinese and will get on this as soon as I have eaten. So I should unplug and give it a shake to see if it rattles?

  • nugent993 Sep 13, 2010

Also compressor sounds like it is running.

  • nugent993 Sep 13, 2010

Got the back off the starter is on there with a twist tie! I will cut and unplug.

  • nugent993 Sep 13, 2010

OK Woodchuck. I got it off and it rattles like it has small stones in it. With your OK I will order this part ASAP. Please advise your soonest. Also how will I know where to put red, white, blue wires when new unit arrives. I have old unit marked; B W R but the drawing that you showed me says that part may not appear as showen because of changes.

  • nugent993 Sep 13, 2010

Also do I need to buy both the starter and the overload? I have the starter in my hand and it does rattle.

  • nugent993 Sep 14, 2010

Have not heard from Woodchuck in over an hour. So, I guess Woodchuck died. May he rest in peace. Anyway what I need to know is; Should I order both the starting device and the overload or can I get away with just a starting device?

  • nugent993 Sep 14, 2010

i am working with a ksrg22fkss03. The fan is working and I used a back pack blower to remove dust from coils. They are clean. I ordered a starting device yesterday and wonder if I need an overload aswell.

As you mentioned the compressor is running and even getting hot.And also rattling noise from the starter, this indicates problem with starter. But if the old starter is got burned out, then its due to faulty overload too.In this case both has to be ordered. So check the starter condition. If its got burned out or burn marks then overload too has to be ordered. Before ordering parts. If you require total parts disassembly diagram for your refrigerator then ,please click on this link.It will help you to disassemble your unit. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kitchenaid-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/Model-ksrg22fkss03/0593/0165000?pathTaken=

the overload protection device is to prevent damage to the compressor in case it overheats, like a self resettable breaker switch, it would not hurt to replace it

  • Rene J Solis Sep 14, 2010

About the starter, even if it looks different, it should be marked where each wire plugs into.

  • nugent993 Sep 14, 2010

Starter should be here tomorrow. I will look around for a overload protection switch locally.
I think that we have done all we can do for now. Thank you.

That click is probably the starter/overload relay which starts the compressor. It overloads and cools off and tries again. It's probably burnt.if it rattles when you shake it is bad. Look behind the cardboard cover behind the unit and listen for the noise to locate it.
Part 13 and 16 on this diagram shows your starter and overload.

You have act well by switch it off to protect the compressor. However if as you have mention the freon gas is ok then you have electronic control panel fault

  • espressonist
    espressonist Sep 13, 2010

As you may already understand your problem is not something simple so we can clearly specify which exactly the problematic part and especialy with electronics since it sound that you fridge act like crazy.

There best procedure is to have the replacement parts use them and see the reaction of the fridge this will save a lot of time and it can make an accurate diagnosis and fix it at the same time.

So we don’t think that to order yourself the parts and try them out since this will be very expensive but to ask the support from a professional that they will only charge you only with the part that is finally faulty.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Elantra and the A/C isn't blowing cold air. Compressor seems to be always engaged. I watched it for 10 minutes. Can someone tell me what the trouble could be please?

Have the A/C pressure tested, make sure the compressor is working even if the clutch is turning. Could be a bad compressor, not actually moving any freon. Also I have recovered freon from a system, and the freon was very low even showing good pressure and the compressor running but not cooling.

I have a 1999 comfortmaker heat pump i need to know if the revercing valve is normal in heat or cool

not sure if this helps but is how it works...
Comfort Maker energizes the reversing valve in cool. The reversing valve coil should be wired to "O" from the thermostat. Take the wires off the the reversing valve coil, it should switch to heat. If it does not, and the compressor is running, the reversing valve is bad! Replace it.

Note: that clicking sound you hear was the pilot valve in the reversing valve. Within a couple of seconds of hearing that click, it should have reversed. IF it does not, you have a bad valve.

Electricity switches the pilot valve. The pilot valve switches the Freon pressure. Freon pressure switches the reversing valve.
hope this makes sense.
best to you.

Air conditioner keeps working after unit is turned off ,the unit shows its off but the swing is still running and cold air ????

How long does it run, is it consistant? Some units are equipped with economizer software built into the controller/thermostat intended to capture the refrigeration effect as the internal pressures equalize. If equipped it works like this, thermostat shuts down the compressor a couple degrees above the set-point, the fan continues to run taking advantage of the continuing refrigeration provided after the compressor shuts down there is still pressure pent up the Freon continues to pass through the metering device to the low pressure of the cooling coil and continues to cool as the pressure bleeds down. If your machine does not have this feature you have a bad controller, call a tech.

I have a samsung fridge/freezer. Production date 2007. Model#RS20NRSV5/XSA both the fridge an freezer not getting cold The lights are on but no cold air.An cant hear anything working at the back.

Your compressor is not working that's why its not cooling and you cant hear anything.
Possible cause:
  1. thermostat is set to off or defective
  2. defective capacitor that's why your compressor failed to run.
  3. defective compressor motor
  4. Freon leak or no freon at all.
Solution:
  1. check thermostat switch or relay
  2. check capacitor and wiring.
  3. check compressor motor.
  4. Check Freon pressures.

Fridge is getting cool but not cold and freezer isnt freezing and it has been re gased

Check the themostat. If you hear the compressor cutting out after running only a short while, that would be the problem. If the compressor runs constantly and the unit is not getting cold it is usually a gas problem, even though it has recently been re-gassed.

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

A/c runs cool for about 20 minutes and then does not cool anymore. keeps running but does not cool.

Is the compressor still running or has it kicked out? The normal problem is that the unit is low on freon and the compressor is not cooling because of this. If the compressor is kicking off an feels hot to the touch but the inside coil is sweating when the compressor kicked off the compressor is going bad. On an outside chance the thermostat can be going out if you turn it to off or all the way down you should hear an audible click and again when you turn it up normally its good if the click is audible. good luck

My a/c is blowing no cool air with freon added

you are supposed to hook up the guages then run the compressor, unless you have a different model than most. this method will give you the low pressure side reading as the compressor runs, this is the important one. as all systems are different there will be slightly different pressures at rest

AC system, compressor not engaging.

Look at the front face of the compressor. Does the metal plate on the front of the pulley start and stop? If so, and you hear a lot of cycling (clicking on and off), you need to get your unit recharged. Good luck

Kenmore 795 refrig is not cooling sounds like everything is running but no cooling. took back panel off and hear a click then a electrical sound which goes for under a minute then shuts off

That indicates that the compressor is overloading the wiring. That clicking noise is the thermal breaker. The freon could be low. causing the compressor to overheat, or the compressor itself is deffective.
