2004 POLARIS 500 RANGER WILL NOT REV OVER ABOUT 1/4 THROTTLE WITH OUT BANGING AND POPING? WE HAVE CLEANED CARB AND FUEL SYSTEM, CK CAM SHAFT LOBES AND VALVE ADJUSTMENT, SPARK PLUG, AIR INTAKES.... ANY IDEAS ?

Should be petcock to pump, pump to carb, carb to engine.. and you have a vacuum line that makes the pump work ..usually from carb/intake to pump.

Sounds like the carb needs a cleaning and setting..with attention to the float level...

Fuel starvation (supply or wrong carb or tune) and/or insufficient or poor quality spark.

Make sure the air filter is clean and only test with it connected as it sometimes makes a lot of difference. It could be worth checking the exhaust for blockages.

shorting ignition circuit , bad coil , valve stuck open , burnt valve , fuel /air ratio wrong

Replace spark plug (gap correctly),Drain all fuel, replace fuel filter, replenish tank with fresh fuel, do a thorough readjustment of the carb settings (last resort - remove and rebuild carb)

Thats not much info but ck the fuel supply and or coil.

Sounds like a fuel system delivery issue! Have a professional clean the fuel system and clean and set the carb. A new or CLEAN AIR FILTER is required.

pull the sensor out on flywheel side turn the engine till the v lines up with that hole set all 4 lines on cam sprockets straight across with i and e up and the lobes facing away from each other


Ignition timing is done by the ECU and can't be adjusted; camshaft and balance shaft timing done during engine build-up

Sounds like the carb,has it been check after its test and tune ?
