Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

We have two Duo Therm 630516 heat pump/AC units. They work pretty good during dry hot days, but when the humidity gets high, they trip off. Not running them at the same time. This usually happens at night. The evenings are about 77 deg and set temp at 72. It comes on for a few minutes, then trips off.

I have this same problem with mine right now. It is brand new out of the box. I took it to the place I purchased it at and they have a service center they did test on it and found no failures on the test. They could not figure out what it was. Then I called the manufacture and they told me that it may be freezing up, but when I told my dad about that he said that was the first thing he checked when it was acting up because he has the same a/c unit, and he found no ice inside the unit. I will be calling the manufacture again tomorrow to see what could be done. Get this the place that I got it from was trying to charge me for looking at it. I couldn't believe that I had purchase this expensive unit from them and it doesn't work properly and they couldn't figure out the problem and they are trying to get more money out of me. I found out more information about what it could be then they did in the time that it was there. Have you figured out the problem with yours? Mine does this only at night as well it is good in the day, but the compressor will shut off and it just blows air out it gets so hot inside my trailer that we are sweating to death we have to step outside and it is much cooler outside than it the trailer.

Hello,I have an old jacuzzi vectra II hot tub (1988) 120 volt.the gfci on the unit trips every time the pump is on low speed with the thermostat calling for heat. there is no trip when there is no demand...

hi,

ok so when the pump is on high and the heater is running it doesent trip? you didnt say if it did. undo the heater leads so the pump is isolated completely. run the pump on the control centers gfci and see if it trips. if it does then try wiring directly - with an extension cord to a plug with a gfci in your house and see if it trips the gfci in your bathroom. if no trip inside house then bypass tubs gfci and run it with heater and pump through your bathroom gfci. if no trip then try and replace the tubs gfci, it gets pretty humid in the control center and gfci's have a semiconductor which which do fail after years of rough duty like that. if it trips the gfci in your house with the heater again it has a cracked heater element. craigslist always has old hot tubs and parts. you might have to buy a whole used old hot tub but that may be cheaper than a new heater box.

Dometic air conditioner blowing cool air

When the cooling slows down, but water is still running off, usually something is icing up. You can turn the unit off, and let it thaw, and try again. Sometimes, if the humidity is high, this is more pronounced. It sounds like you are low on refrigerant. That implies that you have a slight leak. You should have the unit serviced, and the leak repaired.

Duo Therm AC/Heating not working at all after tripped breaker.

I had to get on the roof of mine, remove the cover and manually spin the fan. Add a little oil to the shaft where it goes thru the bearing. All of this is done on the roof side. Mine required this procedure every spring. Duotherm realizes they had a problem and have since corrected it but they don't deal with all of their customers that had the original problem.

My duo therm air conditioner works fine in the moning

If the unit has been serviced recently and they added refrigerant to it, then it's possible that they overcharged it causing it to have high head pressure which will increase the amp draw enough on a hot day to trip the breaker. If the unit hasn't been serviced, you might won't to check the condenser coil to see if it's dirty, if its not dirty then check the voltage to the unit, if you're in an RV park when everybody there is running there ACs the voltage may be to low for your unit to run. What fan speed are you running on you may need to run it on high speed during the day.
