I changed the oil, spark plugs, & Spark plug wires. Now my car will only run for like 10-15 miles then the oil light comes on and the car shuts down. Then after it seems to "cool" off it will start again. Then the same thing. all the lights and stuff work it try's to turn over but wont till it sits for awhile.

SOURCE: I bought a 1996 jetta

Hi! One thing can caused this issues. The PCM (powertrain control module) is faulty and needs replacement. The PCM has connectivity on all electrical current that runs inside the car including, engine, transmission, accessories, etc. The PCM is like a car's brain that when it is faulty everything else fails. Have it replaced and you'll be good. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

Diagnosed with ignition coil problem, replaced coil, spark plugs & wires, inspected pcm, vehicle running rough in gear, acceleration is rough, smooths out when it gets going. oil on one spark plug....

2006 3.9 has to be a T-Bird or LS

There are no spark plug wires

It has Coil-On-Plug individual coils

Plugs don't fail --they get changed at 60,000 miles
give or take, say every 3 years

The front (2) O2 Sensors get repalced at 100,000
miles. The ones closest to the engine

Clean MAF Sensor at least once a year

I have no idea how you inspect a pcm,if your
at home & have no scanner or PC Based Software

Egr Valves fail early on those & other fords

You could test, not look at,actually put an oscilloscope
on the TPS Sensor

Any oil on a spark plug requires a new valve cover gasket

If a coil was replaced based on a code alone, you may have
replaced a good one,not what needed to be replaced if any

What does a major tune up for a 2004 chevy impala consist of? What should be done and needs to be done?

New spark plugs, oil and oil filter, transmission flush and fill, fuel filter, air filter, coolant flush and fill, clean throttle body plate and bore, clean the MAF sensor, replace any loose or cracked vacuum lines, PCV valve, new air filter, new battery.

99% of the time all you should ever need for a tune up is new spark plugs, and a clean air filter and throttle body. But since your inquiry indicated "major" I gave it more critical thought.

How often do you have to tunne up a Venture 2000.

Well you should have a tune up about every 30,000 miles or so and you should change at least spark plugs and spark plug wires, you can also change air filter if needed and fuel filter.

I have the same problem. My Lincoln Ls wrench light comes on and it quits. All spark plugs, all coils and the throttle body has been replaced. I think the LS model is a lemon! Any information or suggestions will be appreciated.

My car started ran and shut off within 5 sec. Could the coil have going bad. The car cranks but does not turn over.

Yes a weak or faulty ignition coil could cause this, but first some troubleshooting is required. The engine needs three things to run, compression, fuel and spark. Take away one of those three things and there is a problem. Check for spark. Check for fuel pressure and a broken t-belt will cause compression loss so that needs checked too. The good news is your vehicle may still be covered by an extended emissions warranty all 96 & 97 honda models except passports are covered for 14 years or up to 150,000 miles which ever comes first. Have your local honda dealer run a VIN Status inquiry to see if your vehicle is covered. if it is you might want to get the vehicle to the dealer for diag because anything emissions related is covered under this warranty ext. Were talkn' coils, ignitors, spark plugs, injectors control units the list goes on, sorry a broken T-belt is not covered. Also in this extended warranty is one complementry Tune-up which includes; spark plugs, dist cap, rotor, plug wire replacement and an oil change between 75-150k miles. -good luck, I hope this helps.

I have a 2003 vw passat 2.8L while changing the spark plugs I noticed oil in the spark plug holes. After gapping and installing the new plugs I drove the car about 20 mile and the check engine light...

Unfortunately the check engine light could be caused by hundreds of things and yet it could have something to do with your changing of the plugs. Do me a favor and take the car to your local auto parts store and they will check the code for the engine light for you for free. Bring that code back here and I will help you figure out what is causing the light and the slugish engine. Sorry for your problem but I'm sure I can help you get it fixed. Thanks for using FixYa!

Will start up run for awhile then stall and wont restart

Hello, I would start with a general tune up. Spark plugs and wires, Fuel Filter, Oil Change and Filter Change, Air Filter Change, Some injector cleaner would not hurt eirther. Be sure to lubricate your high mileage car and also use a farily good oil for your motor as well. The run for awhile problem sounds like bad spark plugs. I would change your spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotarty button.

2001 daewoo lanos check engine light

oil is non conductive so I doubt that's the problem, but the oil leak should be fixed to reduce problems down the road.
as for the misfire could be a couple things, fouled plug(s), a plug wire(s) that has cracks, or even valves that are not seating which i doubt from your explanation.
I would change your plugs and wires first, and fix oil leak. if this does not fix the issue there are other things going on.
