Not necessarily! As long as a lan cable is connected on the wan port of your hub and the other end goes directly to the modem, the connection is correct. The remaining port will be left for the lan cables of the computers. No orders needed. Just make sure that lan cables was properly seated on the port. The LED blinking in the hub will tell you if its working or communicating with your computer. Find it, when the LED is not lit or blinking, the lan cable is not connected properly on the hub (or the other end of the lan cable is disconnected from the lan card of the computers).

If all cables are connected properly and still cannot connect to the network, you may need to refresh the name of the workgroup on the computers that cannot connect on the network,

How? Right click on My Computer.
Select Computer Name
Click Change to change the name of the workgroup that is being use by other computer. Delete the old name if the same and retype.
Restart the computer and try to connect using network neighborhood.

At the back is a tiny pin hole, try pressing the reset button at the back of that device using a pen for atleast 15 seconds to reset the settings.
