Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

My Duo-therm heat pump works fine in AC mode but in heat mode sometimes won't turn on, other times won't shut off when the set temp is reached. I think I need to replace the thermostat (3105604.015). I found a recommendation to replace it with .023 but can't find a supplier online. Do you know who handles this unit?

We have a Duo-therm by Dometic thermostat that does not shut the ac off. We have to manually shut thermostat off to shut ac off. Any suggestions what we can try or just replace thermostat?

Try plugging the hole in the wall where the wire comes through. Also be sure you are not trying to reach your humidity set point therefore overshooting your cooling setpoint. Referred to "droop" in settings

The control that monitors the cutoff temperature may need to be adjusted. Your hetpump may also work effectively at 16 degrees. you have not left any information on the make or model of the heatpump or the thermostat.

RV Dometic Duo Therm roof top AC w/heat pump Model #630515.321El Serial #21631212 Yr. 2003. It is the rear unit, front unit working fine. In AC mode it is blowing hot air as if the heat pump is on. Fan...

If the Air comeing out is the same as the temp inside the RV make sure the compressor is running and not just the fans. It could be low on freon. If freon is ok then you would need to ck the wiring to the selector switch for a short. It would be obviouse because there will be melted wires. I am leaning toword low on freon since you have already been inside the wiring/control unit.

Installed new LG 18000 btu mini split heat pump, started it in heating mode, the unit first appears to run fine but continues to cycle in and off without reaching temp. have already changed indoor board...

a heat pump is a finely tuned machine that can be very efficient yet very frustrating at times. I could give you better advice if I were looking at the unit but hear are some things that may help. The unit has a defrost mode that cycles every 30,60,or 90 minutes. If you take the cover off of the condensing unit and near the top you will see the adjustor. unless you live in arctic or very humid cilimates, it should not be set to 30 min. Also the unit may be low on refrigerant. you can check this with a thermometer. put the therm. on the hot gas line(big one) and it should be 110 degrees hotter than the outside temp. Insulate the point of contact around the therm. and gas line. Also, your aux. heat may not be coming on to supplement the heat from the pump. i.e. the fusable link could have burned up and the heating element wouldnt be coming on(elec. models). there are too many variables and combinations of problems that could cause this.

Duo therm air conditioner

my duo therm air works beautifuly all day but at night when we go to bed it seams to turn on and shut off rapidly. what could be wrong?

Will not shut off

Sounds like a stuck relay on the unit itself. Maybe there is a short in the control wire that comes from the thermostat that activates the fan.

The thermostat probably has one hot wire at all times. The thermostat then chooses which wire to send the voltage down based on your selection. One of those wires is probably for the fan only. Make sure that it is in good condition (no bare, pinched or wires)
