Question about Car Audio & Video

Hi guys, You are doing a great job, so I here from some friends of mine. Here is my story, tried to start my car yesterday, did not start so finally after having replaced the starter (It had frayed connections) And was told to change the battery. I had trouble starting it again, the engine seemed to jam, so I suspected that the water pump or the alternator were the reason, so I removed or shall I say cut the belt. Now it starts so I am going to get a new serpentine and will need the diagram or routing of the serpentine-belt on a taurus sho 1998 V-8 32valve engine. And would like to know the exact location of the water pump on this same engine. There isn't much space and could not see from the engine compartment where it is exactly. I would like to spray some loosening fluid into the water pump, since the car has been sitting on a field for over 2 months, and I suspect there is rust in that component. I did the same with the alternator, sprayed some PL-100 from Pro Lab. This should work right ? Let me know Johnny Spineto

I'm assuming that you are talking about the 1998 Ford Taurus 3.4L SFI SHO 8cyl...

For 3.4L Engine Water Pump removal & install, check this procedure...

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine cooling system.
  3. Remove the two flange bolts and four cap nuts and remove the engine appearance cover.
  4. Remove the battery and battery tray.
  5. Remove the water pump drive belt.
  6. Disconnect the throttle body return and supply hoses, heater core return hose and the oil cooler return hose from the water pump.
  7. Remove the two water hose connection (thermostat housing) retaining bolts and remove the thermostat.
  8. Remove the bolts and collar retaining the water pump housing to the left side cylinder head.
  9. Disconnect the water outlet and inlet hoses from the water pump and remove the water pump from the engine.
  10. Unfasten the belt idler pulley retaining nut and remove the pulley from the water pump.
To install:

  1. Clean the water pump to engine and housing gasket sealing surfaces.
  2. Install the belt idler pulley and retaining nut and tighten the retaining bolt to 89-141 inch lbs. (10-16 Nm).
  3. Apply a silicone lubricant to the water pump inlet and outlet hoses, install them on the water pump housing and clamp securely.
  4. Apply a silicone lubricant to the O-ring and install it between the water pump housing and left side cylinder head.
  5. Install the bolts retaining the water pump housing to the left side cylinder head. Tighten the two retaining bolts at the water inlet to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm). Tighten the two remaining retaining bolts to 14-20 ft. lbs. (18-28 Nm).
  6. Install the water thermostat, oil cooler return tube gasket and water hose connection to the water pump housing and tighten the two retaining bolts to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
  7. Connect the throttle body return and supply hoses, heater core return hose and the oil cooler return hose to the water pump.
  8. Install the water pump drive belt.
  9. Install the engine appearance cover and tighten the two flange bolts and four cap nuts to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
  10. Fill the engine cooling system, then connect the negative battery cable.
  11. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature, then check for coolant leaks and proper engine operation.

you could try getting the battery on the vehicle dissconected and left for about 5 mins, then reconnect it this should set off the alarm, then you just press the button on the remote and it should be back to normal, if it does not set the alarm off, try it again till the alarm does go off, then try the button on the remote...hpe that helps

The flywheel has probely been damaged where the starter engages as the motor only stopps in two places therefore the flywheel may be damaged in those places

Acura steering problem

Hey. What I would do first is to raise the front end up, and check to see if the wheels turn left and right manually; engine off.
Wheels turn free, prob the rack

Second, start it up and feel the P/S hoses. Feel for pressure flow when the wheels are being turned. if there is no obvious feeling of pressure change, then I would think that the rack was bypassing thru the spool valve. Replace the rack.

Actually, $890.00 ain't bad...make sure they do an alignment when they are done.
