How can I fix the top stich

I like to adjust with 2 colors, then you know which is from the spool, and which one is from the bobbin.

Most bobbin shuttles have a small screw to adjust the tension.

It sounds like your upper thread is adjusted too tight, but only if the loops around it (from the bottom thread) are tight and small. If those loops around the top thread are loose, then you need to tighten the shuttle screw. ;)

I notice this happens to me if I change thread types, also if I sew different thickness of cloth on the same settings. I tend to adjust until the point of breaking thread, then loosen the top a teeny bit.

Why does my Janome MB4 Jump in mid pattern and finishe 1" up or down?

This is usually caused by the y axis movement system. Occasionally this system can come out of sync, and cause the issue you described. Your y axis pulse motor may be going bad as well. In either case it would be best to take your machine to a Janome dealer for repair.

The top stich is loose on my Janome Harmony 8100, I have cleaned and changed bobbins, but nothing seems to help.

Ok, Let's understand exactly what is going on. You said. "the top stitch is loose." So that we are clear....do you mean that you are getting loops on top of the seam? Or do you mean that you are getting wiggly stitches on top and small loops on the bottom of the seam? It's important to know... Because loops underneath means the top tension isn't right. Maybe you didn't thread with the presser foot in the UP position... or your tension is dialed too low.

Now, if you are getting loops on top of the seam... that means the top tension is too tight. Loosen the top tension. Make sure your bobbin is inserted correctly. If loosening top tension isn't enough, you may have to tighten the tension screw on the bobbin case/ or bobbin carrier.

My singer sewing machine model # 774 will not produce a lower stich that is not all jumbled on the underside of the fabric. The upper stich is fine, it's the bobbin stich that comes out all jumbled. ...

Looping thread underneath is a top thread tension issue...

I have written a 5 page illustrated Tutorial on overcoming this problem....HERE

Upper thread balls up on the bottom. Makes a matt on the underside of garment.

If your thread messes up on the bottom then the problem lie in the top threadinbg of the machine.. Some how it is not thru the tension wheel like it needs to be. FYI.. Loops on the bottom fix the top.. Loops on the top, fix the bobbin.

Singer 221-1 stitching is good on bottom but not on top

pucker is caused by too loose or, to tight adjustment of: the thread tensioners both the bobbin tensioner and, the needle tensioner need to be adjusted: to adjust the needle tensioner turn the side knob clockwise is tighter counterclockwise loosens; the bobbin tensioner is a tiny screw on the bobbin holder adjust both tensioners until your stich loops' both top and, bottom are tight but, the machine does not break the thread

Thread loops up on the bottom of my piece and then binds up the machine.

Make sure that the tread is fully between the tension disks. Hold the thread at the spool and when placing it through the tension assembly pull both ends firmly.

When you increase the tension, pull on the thread while the presser foot lift lever is down and see if it gets harder to pull. If not, the thread is not between the disks or the machine is malfunctioning and must go for repair.

Large loops on the bottom are almost always caused by little or no tension on top.
