Every time windows tells you to format the drive, copy your data to your computer then format it. when windows detect problems on the drive, it will launch ckdsk, well i dont know hoy to fix it, try plugging it in then reboot.

I somehow deleted the setup for my drive G: (500 GB My Book). I can not locate the Cd nor the instruction manual that came with the drive when I purchased it almost 2 years ago..

If you running windows Xp or later just connecting the drive up should be fine. what exacty do you need to setup? normally when you power up the external drive and connect it to the PC via the USB it's automatically detected and seen as anoher drive (in your case G:) If you looking for an instruction manual just do a search on the Western Digital web site.
