Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a total of 10 white dots (stuck pixels?) on my screen. These have begun popping up over the last few weeks and my conversations with Samsung customer service have gone silent. I've been reading online about a chip (Texas Instruments?) that I can purchase and install to remedy the problem, but this hasn't been confirmed.

Hi,
it is refered to as he "DLP" chip. That is the most likely fix. However be advised that while replacing the chip itself is relatively easy when you put it all back together you'll find that picture will be out of alignment. You will need to leave all the screws that hold the board in place loose so that you can move it in order to re align. it is easier if you have someone in front of tv to guide you.

White dot on screen

Most likely its a dead or stuck pixel (a dot on the screen which makes up the overall picture).  You can read about it here (Link) .  If its a stuck pixel you may be able to fix it.  That wikipedia article gives some methods of removing it under 'Dead vs Stuck Pixel'.  However if its a dead pixel there isnt much you can do except bring it back to where you bought it if its still quite new or ring the manufacturer if you still have a warranty and try get it replaced.

Hi , 2 weeks ago i noticed some dead pixels showing up on my screen (white dots) since then i'm up to 10 dead pixels. What can i do? I heard it might be the dlp projector that has to be replaced...

White pixels are STUCK pixels, not dead. Read the warranty beacuse at a certain number of stuck/dead pixels, the tv is repaired for free by the seller if is in warranty period.

White dot on my samsung DLP 42" screen

Hi,
white dot is from a failure in the dlp chip. it controls 1000s of tiny mirrors which help make up your pix, when the mirrors get stuck a white dot appears. over time more will pop up. Probably in the $300-$500 range to have someone repair.

Had one last week and now there are 6. they are

Hi,

You get white spots inside the samsung DLP tv due to bad Digital Micromiror Device , or bad DMD board .

What is actually the problem is the DMV chip connected to this board . Inside this chip are 3 million tiny mirrors ,and when they physically get stuck , they either show black or white instead of a color
This is well know problem with SAMSUNG DLP...

The DMD chip is failing. If not under warranty expect to pay a few hundred to several hundred to get it fixed

The mirrors on the DLP chip are slowly sticking either fully open (white) or fully closed (black). The part that contains the DLP chip is the Light Engine. It is the most expensive part of the TV.Only the Samsung TVs has this issue.

Replacing the DLP chip and the micro mirror would solve this issue...

Pleaserate this solution,

Phone has begun going 2 a white screen & the pixels are messed up

Yes, its one of two things, the LCD (display) is faulty or the LCD ribbon cable that links the top half oh the phone to the bottom is failling, a common problem on samsungs, but a cheap easy fix.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

Mine is having the same problem. It started around Memorial Day and is only getting worse. One white dot is now a dozen. I called Samsung several times and was given the brush off. They clearly know this is a problem and are failing to respond to the problem in hopes that people will deal with it on their own. It does not matter if your warranty is expired. This is a latent product defect. They are still liable and obligated to fix the problem. I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau. If the company does not respond, I'm taking this to small claims court to get reimbursed for any cost to fix my tv.
