I too face the same problem, though there are many claimed solutions, but many are not working. This looks like the limitation of the phone. Is there any hack/crack is available?

"The low volume in the in calls in SE P1 / P1i can be easily solved in this way/hack:
(Thanks to montsma, the Junior Member AT noeman.org)

Speaker volume in P1i Service Menu

Go to the Main Menu > Phone > Phone to open the virtual numeric keyboard.

Do the following;

- 1 click up on jog dial and press (*)
- 2 clicks down on jog dial and press (*)
- 1 click down on jog dial and press (*)

to open the hidden Service Menus part of the phone.

Then go to the Service Tests > Speakers.

There are two selections, rear and front, and the "front" adjusts the volume of the ear speaker, which is used during the calls. Increase the volume to %100. Quit the Service Menus and make your call. I made one try and it was cool!"

If your handheld has a built in speaker, does audio come out through that?
If yes then it is either a connection or your headphones. Try another set of phones. If these don't work then try twisting the jack connection around a bit. If the speakers crackle softly during this then it is an internal connection between the main PCB and the jack socket. No way to fix.
If no then make sure the volume is up at MAXIMUM and ensure that the music is in MP3 format.

Phone

hi,
this problem is due to very low volume of your loudspeaker...when u speak, they can hear u, but due to the low volume of the loud speaker, u can't hear them....so this is the solution: increase the volume of the loudspeaker, by increasing the volume keys at the side of the phone..

NOTE: you should do this when you are in a call....plz be particular in it or the volume won't increase...

good luck

Are you using a headphone or the Pda's speaker?

The speaker could be damaged or disconnected - try connecting a headphone to the Pda to see if the sound works.

hi, it seems u r facing some trouble while receiving calls,. well, there's no such optional setting which would turn the flip speaker on/off,.. hence its clear that the prob is with the flip, my best advice is to give it for an authorized Motorola service center (as your phone comes under the warranty period i guess), and wait for the best to happen,.. regards, sheldon
