Need to change battery

Presumable you mean the CEMO battery take the side cover off look around the mother board you will see a small silver battery which retains the clock timing it will be retained in a round clip holder change it. Presumable you have to press F1 on boot up to continue this indicates a dud CMOS battery.

It should be located somewhere on the motherboard wich means pulling the computer completely apart which unless you know what you are doing may be a little difficult for some, but not inpossible.

When booting system I get message: Hardware Monitor found an error. Enter power setup

this is a sign that your cmos battery needs replacing on the motherboard its a cr2032 flat disc shaped battery and normally resides near the memory slots. The battery being flat is losing all the hardware and bios settings, F1 just passes this check and allows a boot, you will probably find the time and date is incorrect which is a sure sign of battery problems

VAIO PCV-RS504 START UP PROBS

This could be a corrupt bios, remove the side casing of the pc and either remove the cmos disc shaped battery on motherboard for 10 mins or so or locate the JBAT1 terminal on the motherboard and put jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 for a couple of seconds then back to 1-2. You will have to reset the time and date inthe bios when it prompts you to do so on startup normally by pressing F1 or F2, save the settings then exit and try to boot up again.
