No images on LCD when trying to record

Images can be seen while viewing playback on previous recordings, But when I try to record I get a black screen.

  • twoyellowlab Oct 18, 2008

I can still review previously recorded tapes but unable to view anything through either the eyepiece or the LCD screen.  It's almost as if the lens cover is still closed (and yes I checked that already.

I have the same problem I did not open the camera yet to fix the issue but after gently hitting the camera lens i came to this resolution
Go head and turn on the camera in the recording mode. With 2 fingers squeeze of the camera where the lens sticks out. Right by the switch between close shooting and far shooting. Now squeeze the lens really tight, try it in that same area and the lens should make the connection to the LCD screen. I had this problem after 1st month of my purchase, if you can give back the camera and get a new one or another brand. If not these instructions do work for me so I hope it works for you

No image on LCD screen

It sounds like you're receiving partial information on the LCD screen and that the image sensor isn't sending information to the screen.

If you know the sensor is working by recording some video on an SD card and being able to view the recorded video on your PC, then there is a disconnect between the LCD and the image sensor.

If you are not recording video to your SD card and only get black images or no files, the image sensor is damaged.

If you are recording video, but no image appears on your LCD for internal viewing/playback, you can try a firmware update if one is available from www.insigniaproducts.com, but this is a discontinued item so there's not much available for support.

Hope this helps!

My JVC camcorder keeps saying lens cap is on and it wont view any image just plain black. I have had it for about five years first time anything like this has happened. I think it might have been dropped...

That sounds like the shutter is stuck closed. Unless you're highly technical, if will most likely require servicing. Get an estimate first, the repair cost can be worth more than the camera.

If your Sony camera DCR-HC30 doesn't show live view to record and playback previous recordings good then its problem of bad CCD Imager and this part will be replaced.

Sound but no picture.

if you are able to playback previously recorded cassette and the picture is perfect then its not the head. then the problem is with the image grabbing section i.e. the CCD. May be its damaged and needs replacement.
