It depends on the lens. If the lens has a fixed mount for an Olympus, then no, it will only fit on Olympus cameras. If it has a removable T-mount, then yes, with an appropriate T-mount for Canon or most any other brand.

Come to lens erroe

The only advice I have is to tray and "assist" the lens out when you turn the camera on. Use your fingers to gently attempt to help the lens to come out.
Digital cameras just are meant to be turned into repair shops. So, sending it in for repair really isn't an option.

Here are some other tricks I've learned but have a good chance of not applying to your problem:
  • Ensure battery is fully charged. Maybe let it charge overnight. Or, use fresh AA's if that is what it takes.
  • Remove battery(ies) from camera and let sit overnight. Retest.
  • Attempt a full reset of the camera if available within the MENU.
  • Try to turn on without a memory card. Try with a different memory card.
BONUS TIP (WARNING: Last ditch effort)
  • As a last resort, when you are prepared to throw it away... wrap it in a towel and and hit it really hard on a hard surface (preferably one that won't be damaged). I actually got a Canon powershot to work again after getting a lens error by doing just this. I could not believe it. I haven't used it much sense, but it still works 4 months later.

Lastly, in the future, consider alternate camera brands. Vivitar is not known for their quality digital cameras. I'm not saying they don't take good photos. I'm just saying you may have a better experience with a Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic or Kodak. (Yes, there are probably others)

I have a vivitar 62mm camera lens, is there any value to this lens? It was used on a Cannon AE-1 35mm camera.

That is one peculiar focal length- in fact, I think you have given us the filter thread size (62mm diameter fitting filter). So I can't comment on the lens as I am not sure what it is.

There are some Canon digital cameras that can take the lenses from the old SLR film camera range, so if this is an interesting lens, like a zoom or telephoto, it might be worth something. Most film camera stuff now is unwanted, unless it is collectable. A Vivitar lens with a Canon mount is not collectable. These were less expensive third party lenses, not the top whack Canon made ones.

I want to use my OM2000 Olympus lens for my video Canon XL1, do you know Olympus has built any lens adaptor to Canon XL? Reap

Olympus did not make adapter for OM lenses to be used on Canon XL1 but, if you are looking for the lens adapter, Novoflex XL-OM Lens Mount Adapter Olympus Lens to Canon XL-1, is the lens adapter that suppose to work.
B & H has this adapter for sale.

No the 283 is not compatible with your camera. The 283 is manual only and not TTl. The canon flash is also not compatible with your Olympus. You need an olympus compatible flash.

Camera lens stuck!

Hello Friend,
First i would let you know that the Brand Vivitar is one of low quality cameras, it's sad but it's true.
Now regarding the issue that you have with the lens, you probably drop it because this the only way to have the lens stuck. but anyway, to repair it it will cost you more than a new one. and again i suggest to buy a branded camera like Canon,Sony,Nikon,Panasonic ... these are top quality cameras and you will not have any problem for life except if you drop it ;)
Best Regards,

Cannon lenses

All canon EF lenses (and compatibles e.g. Sigma EX) can be used with both analog and digital  EOS-bodies. Depending on the sensor size (usually smaller than a 35 mm negative) a crop-factor due to the smaller field of view must be considered.  Example: Canon EF 50mm/1.8 lens used on a digital EOS (40D, crop factor 1.6) equals a 80mm lens (50mm x 1.6) compared to analog cameras using 35mm film. Some digital EOS-models can also use EF-S lens-series.

Lens wont go back in

Probably grit in the mechanism. That happened to my Olympus, but after frequent re-trying eventually the problem cured itself. It is unlikely that a repair will be economic as the price of digital cameras is so low.

Vivitar lens

Can you provide model on the Vivitar and the model of the Rebel? The serial number provided is not sufficient to find exact info on the lens mount. If you take a picture of the lens mount and upload it, it's better.

Best info I can give is this ...

The Canon Rebel is an EF mount and will accept also EF-S type lenses. Once you have the mount type of the lens, you can then locate a mount adapter that will allow you to attach it to the Canon.

For example. If the VIVITAR lens has a T-Mount, then you can get one here. Realize though that old lenses do not benefit from new camera features, so autofocus and other things may not work.

Let me know more info if you can ...

Hope this helps, if so, rate a FixYa! ThankYa!
