Question about Frigidaire 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Electric Range - White-on-White

My Frigidaire 30" oven ES300 the broiler element will turn on when "bake" is selected. This high temp will cause an F10 error. The broiler will turn on when broil is selected but I cannot get the bake element to turn on.

Thank you for the quick response, but the problem is not the F10 error code. It is that when "bake"button is pressed and a temp is input (for example 350) the bake element does not turn on, the broiler turns on. I believe the F10 is in response to the oven temp being set at 350 but the broiler is turned on.

Somehow by opening the back and checking the wires (everything seems intact and no visible heat damage) the oven has "reset" itself and is working properly. I will keep the diagram on file incase the problem presents itself again. Thank you for your help and quick responses.

Hi

Error F10 appears due to a faulty oven temperature sensor or faulty wiring on the oven temperature sensor. F10 indicates that the control detects a runaway temperature in the oven. If this error is appearing when the oven is at high temperatures then it is due to a faulty relay on the electronic control board. If this fault code appears when the oven is at room temperature, then the failure points to a failed oven temperature sensor probe circuit or a bad electronic oven control board.

To check this you’ll need to use a multimeter, the resistance of temperature sensor should be around 1100-1200 ohms. If it is above 2000 ohms then the sensor has turned bad. However, if the reading is between the specified range then check the wiring harness connection directly at the electronic oven control board (with the range still unplugged). If the wiring is perfect then you would need to replace the electronic control board.
Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

    Hi

Pleae check the wiring of your bake and broil elements. Also make sure that the conrol board is fine and there are no burnt components on the electronic board. Please check the wiring for your range on this link--

The "F10" error code caused by the runaway temperature.

The first thing I would check is the resistance across the oven temperature probe (aka oven temperature sensor) terminals at the EOC (electronic oven control) plug.

It suppose to be about 1100 Ohms at the room temperature.

If the resistance at the EOC plug is wrong, then measure the oven temperature probe resistance at the probe plug.

If it's wrong - replace the oven temperature probe. It's better to hardwire it, using a high temperature ceramic wire nuts.

If the readings at the EOC and at the oven temperature probe plug are different - check the wire harness between the oven temperature probe and the EOC.

If there is nothing wrong with the oven temperature probe resistance - replace the EOC.

Bake and broiler element come on when bake is selected. Why?

Understand that I am not a professional, so this answer is subject to revision by someone who is more knowledgeable.

Where I live now I'm on Natural Gas, but in the past I've had electric stove/ovens. Based on my best recall the situation you describe is NOT abnormal.

When in the Broil mode, the Bake element is NOT on, but the Broil element is on FULL-bore to provide that strong radiant heat required for the Broiling process, AND for the good browning /crusting of the product being Broiled!!!!!

On the other hand, when Baking, not broiling, IF the Broiling element were on high it would provide too much radiant heat to the top of the product being Baked, and would burn the top.

While Baking, by energizing the Broil element in a lower power setting, the Baking process is enhanced with more heat by the assistance of the Broiler element, BUT without the hazard of burning on the top!!!!!

Hope this is right and helps your understanding.

I have a GE 24 inch wall oven model number JRS04B0W5BB that when bake is selected the broiler element comes on and then after awhile it looses temp and does not cook anything.

Ovens often use broiler element to preheat, then shut off when set temp is reached. Check fuses for and bake element itself.

Whirlpool built in electric oven

The upper element is for broiling and should not come on until you tell it broil. If it is coming on as soon as you turn on the breaker then it sounds like the printed circuit control board is bad. There is a relay on the board that engages when you program in the broiler. The relay can be hard to find and may not be removable. My broiler would come on when I programmed in the bake mode, go into runaway heat, put up a F10 code, and shut off. I could not clear it until I programmed in the clean mode for 2 hours. Now it works great.

Frigidaire PLEB30S8CCA baking element not working

Good Morning Jane, thank you for your post!

From what you have described, it sounds like you possibly have problem with a faulty thermal fuse, power supply board, user interface board or a communication error with the EOC (Electronic Oven Control). This is not a typical do it yourself job. Please reach out to an expert technician to ensure the appropriate replacement part(s) is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues.

Best regards!

Lower heating element in oven does not work

so this unit is electric? does the broiler work? if the answer is yes , the broiler does work...more than likely you need a bake element. Do you have a multimeter? you can also check to see if you have 240 volts going to the element when you turn it on if you have voltage your problem is 100 percent a bake element that has gone bad.

Bake not working

Well, to ensure the element isn't bad, you can take an ohm meter to the contacts of it and measure the resistance. It should be around 20 ohms. If it is much greater or infinite, the element is bad. To get to the contacts you will need to unplug the oven, pull it away from the wall and remove the rear panel. Then disconnect the element wiring and touch the probes from the meter to the contacts on the element. Otherwise, usually, the temp sensor is bad if the broiler still works, this is a small pencil shaped rod on the inside top of the oven. You can test it the same way and it again should be around 20 ohms. You can order a new parts locally or from repairclinic.com. Let me know what you find.
