Connect an external monitor (display) to your laptop to see if the monitor or the card inside the laptop is bad. If the external monitor is OK, the laptop's monitor display is bad. If the external monitor doesn't work, then the video card inside the laptop is bad.

Hope this helps.

Como se reativa a fn?

Dear Ary,

I'll first answer in English and then in Portuguese..

The 'Fn' key is not reactivated. As a matter of fact, it 'activates' the special functions marked in the same color or with the same pattern as is shown in the 'Fn' key. Pressing and holding the 'Fn' key while you press any of the function keys will enable the function marked on those keys (increase or decrease brightness, increase or decrease sound, open the DVD player, lock/unlock the laptop, start the browser, etc).

In the case your problem is that the 'Fn' key is not performing the actions described, along the other function keys, maybe it could be caused by a defective contact matrix under that key. In this case, you will have to take your laptop to an authorized service repair shop and have its keyboard repaired or replaced.

Hope it helps!

Agora em Portugues:

A tecla 'Fn' nao e reativada.

Lines through colour block

Most likely your printer is running out of ink and/toner and is thus skimping or it could simply be with the rollers of the printer but most likely the problem lies in the fact that the printer is low on ink and/or toner

Colour on screen out of balance due to magnetic disruption

You may be able to borrow a degauser from a local shop. If you can you turn it on and rotate it in a circular motion around the picture tube and back away slowly untill you see no effect. Turn it off and your done. You may be able to buy a small one at Radio shack. Bottom line is you have to use the right tool a magnet will only make it worse..

Colour lines across the page

Hey Paul, Can you post a scan of the printed paper? It may help diagnose your problem. The most common cause of lines accross the page is either the PhotoConductor Unit or the 2ND BTR Assy.
