I got a question pertaining to the following thread (http://www.fixya.com/support/t1808523-de... ). The OP said he replaced the board and it did not change the picture. Another poster ( ejb747vh ) said the same thing. What are the possible problems that could be causing this and what methods of diagnosing can we use? I have access to multimeter, oscilloscope, etc. The picture posted by the OP is very similar to my problem except the red lines seem more horizontal for me.

This is the question that I submitted. Not sure why it didn't all get to you.

1) FOLLOW ANTI-STATIC PRECAUTIONS

There, did I say that loud enough? I want 'Everyone in the room to hear me'.

You body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit) the delicate hardware components inside a computer.

Relieve your body of Static BEFORE working on a computer, and BEFORE touching any of those hardware parts.
(Especially new ones in an anti-static bag or carton)

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, computer case open.
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case.
This action will relieve your body of Static.\

Should you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, (Restroom break, lunch/dinner, etc), be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.

Hi: I have a DELL SE198WFP monitor and Dell computer (running Vista). The problem is the picture on the monitor is elongated horizontally, meaning, round things have a "stretched" egg shape...

You need to set yuor PC Video resolution to the native resolution of this monitor for the correct aspect ratio and best picture; it should be 1440x900 @60Hz

I am looking for a multi function relay similar to the Dayton (1)6A855 but with a 240vac input not 120vac input. Can you assist please. Regards Bruce Peters

1) Dayton 6A855 time delay pin timer
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/search.shtml?searchQuery=dayton+6A855&op=search&Ntt=dayton+6A855&N=0&sst=subset
Grainger owns Dayton, so you might want to contact Grainger

2) Time delay timers at Grainger:

3) Grainger shows time-delay 8-pin 120 or 240V

Grainger shows 11-pin 120 or 240V
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/DAYTON-Relay-1EJN6?Pid=search

Searching for "11 pin 240Volt delay timer" turned up results:

4) Following pdf shows knob-adjustable 240V delay-on pin timer
https://www.relayspec.com/specs/020050/T1Series.pdf

5) Signaline has delay timers (800) 862-2875

6) SSAC
http://www.ssac.com/standard/ff-tdr1.htm

7) Another pdf with 240V delay pin timers
http://www.askco.com/pdfs/tdd_tud_data.pdf

8) Not wanting to say what already know, but each 240V circuit is made from two out-of-phase 120V lines. Any 240Volt Load can be turned OFF by turning off one of the 120V lines. In this way, the Dayton 120V timer can be used to control 240V load.
Also the 120V Dayton can operate 120V double-pole contactor, and then the contactor controls 240V Load.

I have a Dell 4201C-HD plasma and the picture comes out with hundreds of horizontal lines and like repeater shadows.

1. Check for bad capacitors and transistors both through mount and
surface mounted in the vertical section of your TV.
2. If no problems are found focus your attention on the tuner check
for broken connections wiggle your coax connection to see if the
problem clears also check for open inductor coils.
3 Check the vertical and horizontal output chip if they read shorted
replace

There is no Dell tech site for servicing the TV, there are no user servicable componets in the TV.

If the TV is uneconomically repairable, then I'd say cut your losses and buy a replacement.

I wish I had better news but with the cost of repairs increasing and the cost of replacements dropping older TV's are quickly becoming disposable rather than repairable.

here is an example:

Horizontal lines in photos

Take a look at this thread (the best solution by "techman"):
http://www.fixya.com/support/t103590-white_line_across_image

It appears many vendors have had complaints and the result is a CCD (image sensor) failure when exposed to high humidity and heat.

Hope this helps...
