If you cannot hear any fan noise when you start your desktop, that means you need to change your power supply ,if you can fear your fan noise but cannot see anything on screen then there can be issue with your motherboard, you will have to get it replaced

Blank Screen on start. No display

You need to replace the motherboard. When nothing comes on the display this means the bios on the motherboard is bad and the board and cpu need replaced.

My laptop displays nothing when switched on.

hi are you sure it displays nothing or is the display dark ? try shining a light at the screen see if you can see anything. if you can see something on the screen then it is quite probably yout lcd inverter, this is a part that is responsible for lighting up the screen.
if nothing on the screen try pluging a monitor into the the laptop if it displays to an external monitor try switching between monitor and lcd this is usally Fn + F4 or F5 you should see a screen icon on the correct key. if you still get no display then my best guess would be the screen is at fault.

Trouble starting up laptop

Most portable computers have a monitor loop-through or simultaneous viewing function. Press the FN +F4 function keys on the portable computer to switch the image from the portable screen to the projection screen or to toggle through the following three options:

  1. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD): Output displays only on the portable screen.
  2. Cathode Ray Tube (CRT): Output displays only on the projection screen.
  3. CRT/LCD: Output displays on the portable screen and the projection screen.

NO DISPLAY

if you are unable to see the bios boot screen and there is just a flashing cursor in the top left of the screen you may need to reset the bios, if still nothing the cmos chip is faulty and only a replacement motherboard will solve it.
