How To Install East Asian Language Support In XP Without XP CD

  1. First, check to see if you have the i386 folder on your hard drive. This folder will have the East Asian Language Support files that you need to install. The i386 folder can be found here: C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386 or here: C:\i386
  2. If you cannot find the i386 folder, you will need to obtain a copy of the Windows XP CD and copy the i386 folder to a USB thumb drive.
  3. Click on the Start menu, open Control Panel, then open Regional and Language Options.
  4. Select the Languages tab and under the Supplemental language support frame, check the the box next to "install support for East Asian languages".
  5. Click on Ok or Apply, then you'll receive a dialog box which says that "The following file ' - ' is missing.." and it also allows you to specify a directory where it should be found. Click on Browse and select the "I386" folder on your hard drive or thumb drive.
  6. After the files are installed, you must restart your computer.

HOW TO CHANGE LANGUAGE OF THIS CAM JAPNIES TO ENLISH?

I don't think you can. The US/European model has English and Frensh menu language. I believe yours is an Asian model with only Asian languages.

My hp deskjet 5740 shows up with asian language not english in the set up boxes and it is impossible to work out fonts, paper feed, portrait/landscape etc, can you offer a fix

Just unstalled the driver by deleting the printer from the printer and fax in control panel and unplug your printer from the system.

Go to this link below and download the printer driver by selecting your operating System

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=357202&lang=en&

Double click the installer and in the language column select english (if by default it can be any asian language). Connect your printer only after finishing installation. If the installtion wizard search for the printer hardware, select you will connect it later.

This will solve your problem.

Aussie version vs. Asian version

The asian version has a bigger hard drive, that's the main difference.

You can buy an asian version, but you may find that if you want to play some dvds and blueray discs and other things, they will be region locked, so you will not be able to play them in Australia.

But if you are just after using it as a gaming console then the asian one might be the choice, but be aware that the games language will not change.
