Ejecting a CD is easy as soon as you power on your laptop and get a beep sound just push the eject button on the CD ROM. In case even after that the CD is not ejecting then kindly take a paper pin and look for a very small hole next to eject button and push with the help of the paper pin inside as you might push a small button on television with a paper pin. CD will be ejected. It seems that you were earlier using win XP and due to some reason your hdd has corrupted. You have chosen the best option by installing win7 as this is the only available software which does not require a format, hence, all your data either in C drive or anywhere is safe. If you require any further assistance kindly comment.

Wow buddy you are really stuck in a very wrong circumstances. I've checked the model which my friend is having. It's auto eject by right clicking on drive and selecting eject. Since your hdd has lost its boot sector hence now you can't even access your laptop. You have presently only two options. Download an operating system (trial version is also ok) which can boot through a pen drive. They are available on net. boot your laptop from pen drive and eject the CD by right clicking on the drive and selecting eject.

    OR

you might try to remove the media from your drive by inserting a credit card or some similiar thin and stiff object in the slot and try to lift and free the CD/DVD from its hub. But, then, it might also harm your drive and, if there is any mechanical problem with your drive it wouldn't solve the problem.

If due to any reason you are unable to make a bootable pen drive kindly ask. I'm here for your assistance. Today 14 I won't be available but tomorrow 15 I will appear again.
    Good luck!

How do eject dvd

This works for me on my windows 8 lenovo pc. The problem is not necessarily related to the pc brand but could be a problem with the operating system. (Windows vista, 7, 8, etc)
"Hold the off button and the eject button down for about 5 to 10 seconds together. Then release both. Then wait a few minutes and turn the computer on again. The dvd/cd tray should open on reboot. "

Hello my laptop keeps saying no operating system found

This is a problem with recognizing your hard drive or the Operating System installed on the hard drive. Put your Windows 7 or Vista CD into your drive and restart, booting to the CD drive. Try to repair your startup problems. If this does not work, you may have a hard drive failure.

Cd/dvd universa driver

There is no need for a cd/dvd universal driver for windows operating systems from XP SP3 to Windows 7. If the device isn't being detected, it is either not working, not connected properly, not powering on (press the eject button to test), or there is something wrong with your ATA or SATA controller.

Machine won't start - so put diagnostic cd in and now cannot eject it. Sift key eject does not work - is there any other way of ejecting cd from Dell XPS One

You may not be able to eject CDs or DVDs from your computer, either using the Windows Eject feature or by pressing the button on the drive. If the Recommended Solution above does not automatically return your drive to a working state, try these options:
  1. Attempt to Eject the CD in System Setup. Software may be interfering with the normal operation of the drive. Reboot the computer and tap the F1 key while at the Dell logo screen to enter System Setup. Then attempt to eject the CD tray using the button on the drive. If the drive ejects properly, there is a software conflict that needs to be resolved.

  2. Try a Diagnostic Startup. If the drive ejects normally in System Setup, try a Diagnostic Startup of Windows 7.
    1. In Windows, click Start, then in the Search box type msconfig and hit .

    2. Click Diagnostic Startup to load basic devices and services only.

    3. Reboot the computer and try to eject the drive when you get back into Windows 7.

If the drive ejects correctly, look for burning software that may be controlling the drive and update it or uninstall it.

  3. Reseat the drive. The cabling of the drive may be loose, or the drive may not be seated correctly in the laptop. Refer to the Online User's Guide for your computer for information on reseating the cables or the drive in the computer.

  4. Update the optical drive firmware and the BIOS on the computer. In some instances the firmware of the drive may become corrupted or the BIOS may 'lose' the drive. Visit the Dell Drivers and Downloads website and input your Service Tag to get updates specific to your computer.

You can't boot Windows XP from a floppy disk the way you used to be able to with DOS. One handy way to easily boot XP is by using a USB flash drive. Here's how to make it work. Boot Windows XP from a USB flash drive
