Question about Apple iPhone 3G

1 Answer

I purchased an iphone from USA in 2008 and unlocked it using blackra1n and today without thinking, itunes updated to a new version and now it is locked and when I try to download blackra1n again, it tells me that ASL.dll is not installed and I can't unlock the phone, any ideas?

I've tried that and for some reason my computer won't let me download it. Blackrain is one jailbreak and my computer indicates that windows has an error no ASL.dll file. When I check this it is there. I have black rain as an application on the iPhone, just need to unlock it to activate it. Can you offer another couple of jailbreak downloads?

The iphone is such that what works for 1 device does not necessarily work for the other. depending on your location. Your best bet will be to connect the device to your PC and try to get the Iphone jailbreak software. All you have to do is go to google on your itunes and download the software from there. Install it on your device and attempt to jailbreak it that way.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

You can enable or activate your phone without Restoring or Loosing data. Please follow this procedure...

* Open iTunes. You can check your iTunes version by clicking "iTunes" in the menu bar and then clicking "About iTunes."

If you don't have itunes yet, download the highlighted keys below.

DOWNLOAD ITUNES

* Make sure you have the Blackra1n jailbreak tool on your desktop. download the link below

BLACKRAIN FOR WINDOWS

BLACKRAIN FOR MAC

* Attach your iPhone to a USB port on your computer by using the iPhone data cable. Open the Blackra1n tool and then click in the middle of the box where it says, "Make it Rain." Now perform a hard reboot on your iPhone.

To perform a hard reboot, simultaneously, press the iPhone on/off button located on the top right of your iPhone and the "Select" button centered on the bottom of the iPhone below the screen. Hold down both buttons for approximately 60 seconds. Your screen will go black. Then you will see the apple logo. Then your screen will go black again. After about 60 seconds, you will see the normal iPhone reboot screen, which shows the iTunes logo and a picture of a USB data cable.

Release both buttons and you will see the Blackra1n reset screen which looks like a picture of a teenage boy surrounded by iPhone images. Your iPhone should now be fully functional and no longer disabled.

Good Luck...

How to jailbreak iphone 3g 3.1.2 firmware with blackRa1n

Step 1: Update iTunes to the latest version available and reboot your computer.
Step 2: Download BlackRa1n from our iPhone downloads page and install it, then reboot your PC (note that rebooting is not necessary but I always do this as a precaution).
Step 3: Plug your iPhone to your computer and launch BlackRa1n. Click on “make it ra1n”.
make-it-ra1n.png Step 4: Your iPhone will now enter recovery mode. The regular recovery mode image on your iPhone will be replaced by a picture of GeoHot.
entering-recovery.png Step 5: BlackRa1n will run on your iPhone and then it will reboot.
done.png A pop up will show up asking you to donate. If you successfully jailbreak your iPhone, I suggest you send $5 or $10 to GeoHot.
Step 6: Once your iPhone reboots, you will notice a new icon on your springboard. This is BlackRa1n. Now make sure you have internet connection and launch BlackRa1n on your iPhone.
blackra1n-installed.jpg Step 7: Choose what installer applications you want to install on your iPhone and then tap “Install”. I suggest only installing Cydia but you may install them all if you want to.

Step 8: Once done installing, your iPhone will respring and you should see your installer app on your springboard.

Jailbreaking your iPhone 3G/3GS with OS Version 3.1.2

There's tons of information available on the internet on how to jailbreak your iPhone. That's the positive, and that's the negative too! You get stuck with questions like "will this method work?", "how is method 2 different from 1,2,..1000?" and so on! I thought I'd make things a little simpler by giving you a method that worked for me, and a lot of my friends on both 3G and 3GS models. So here we go:
Step 1: Preparing your iPhone.
Restore your iPhone by connecting it to iTunes. Download and install the latest version of the OS 3.1.2 (as of now).
Step 2: Get iTunes out of the way!
End the process "iTunes helper" from the Task Manager (Windows) or Activity Monitor (Mac)
Step 3: Download the Blackra1n software here: http://www.blogsdna.com/5465/download-blackra1n-rc3-to-jailbreak-unlock-iphone-3g3gs-3-1-2.htm
Step 4: Run Blackra1n and let it do it's thing!iPhone will restart now.
Step 5: Disconnect your iPhone from computer, and look for an app named "blackra1n" in the phone. Open it, and install the packages listed in the app: Cydia, Rock and Sn0w.
Step 6: Restart phone
Insert your new sim and enjoy your jailbroken iPhone 3GS!

I tried to update my iphone but now it says that it does not recognize my sim card. And now my iphone is locked. i can make only emergency calls. How can i unlock my iphone to make the full use of it?

Try to connect you iPhone with iTunes and try to activate it there. If that does not work, you might have a SIM provider different from the iPhone provider. Your only option would be to jailbreak and unlock the phone, which void the warranty. If you really want to go that way, try finding blackra1n and redsn0w which will jailbreak and unlock you phone. Be aware that not all versions can be unlocked, especially if updated to iOS 4. If this is the case, wait to an unlock to become available. Always read the disclaimers and be aware that there are some risks to jailbreaking and unlocked your iPhone.

I updated new version of software 3.1.3 but it is nt activated it is not supporting 2g sim

Hello,
If you have a carrier locked iPhone (AT&T in the US), then simply connect the iPhone to your computer with the iPhone's USB cable and open iTunes. Upon doing so, iTunes should connect to the internet and activate your iPhone by confirming your AT&T service account via Apple's activation servers.
If your iPhone is using a Non-AT&T carrier, then you must download and use an application like Blackra1n to re-activate your iPhone and jailbreak it, if necessary.
However, please note, if you need the iPhone unlocked as well, firmware OS version 3.1.3 (currently the latest, as of this writing) is not unlockable due to the changes it makes to your baseband. You cannot downgrade your firmware OS either since the baseband changes 3.1.3 makes to your iPhone's modem are permanent.
Until a proper fix is found and released by the iPhone Dev-Team (the creators & supporters of the iPhone unlocking software), the best you can hope for is an activated, jailbroken iPhone, but sadly, not unlocked.

I have a 3g 3.1.3 5.12.01 iphone. i need o use it with a tmobile sim card. if i cant how do i downgrade?

to use any phone on another network you need an unlock code that only your provider can give you. more than likely your provider will not give you the unlock code since it is an iphone, and that is for an iphone with any version. this is because apple and att are in a contract with eachother and it is designed for atts network and wont work properly on another network. also by using it on another network it can cause the iphone to be suceptible to different viruses and it can crash.
