Hello, I have Asus f5z, video card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200. Original Windows Vista, automatic updates always On. And suddenly began go error, screen blinks, and shows "ati stopped responding...

This could either be a problem with the graphics driver, or a problem with the graphics card itself.

Try once more downloading the latest version of the driver from here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-32.aspx and installing it while your computer is running without the graphics driver turned on. Then try re-enabling the graphics driver to see if the updated driver solved the problem.

If updating the driver doesn't work, it's almost certainly a problem with the laptop's video card. If this is the case, you'll want to have it looked at by a professional, or contact Asus support directly to see if they can help you resolve the issue.

Hope this is helpful!

I've had a similar problem on my Dell Studio laptop. Windows Update will force an update to the graphics card driver, and the result will be full of bugs. To fix, consult the graphics card's manufacturer website (Intel, nVidia, AMD) and download the correct driver for your graphics card. Uninstall the current driver using Device Manager (Windows Vista/7 just type in "Device Manager" to the start menu search. Expand the Display Adapters section. Right click on your graphics card and select uninstall.) You should then be prompted to restart your computer, do so. Once your computer has rebooted, install the new driver downloaded from the manufacturer's website, after it installs you should again be prompted to restart, do so. Once rebooted, problem should be solved.

If I helped you, please give me a 4 thumbs up rating. If you still need more assistance, comment back and I'll be happy to continue helping.

It seems that, the problem is coming to your laptop but not the LCD, you have to update your graphic card driver. I have met this problem before, I use Lenovo Y460 laptop (Win 7 OS)with double graphics (a unit one and a independent one), And I want to use the independent one only, So I disabled the united one before I turn off the laptop. Then the same problem as yours came to me when I turn on my laptop the next time. And I enabled the unit graphics and restarted the laptop and everything went OK. Wish these will help you..

hi! you don't need to update the driver cause the problem is in your hardware. Graphic seems to be a bit grounded, try cleaning the contact pins of your AGP graphic card with eraser, clean it side by side and then put it back again to an AGP slot, then boot your CPU again. If it still the same, try it in another motherboard that support you graphic card just to be sure before we conclude that its the graphic card has the problem. Anyway if it still under warranty you can claim for a replacement to the store where you bought the graphic card.  Have a nice day!
