Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

SCANNER I used to be able to put a document on the platen and press scan and the scanner would automatically scan. I had problems with my computer and had to unplug everything and take it into the Acer workshop for repair. Since then I have not been able to scan anything. When I place my document on the platen and press scan it does nothing at all. I purchased my computer brand new from Acer but I have lost my user manual. Can you help me please?????? Thanks Robbie

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer/scanner drivers?

Hello, I am attempting to scan an important document and the printer keeps saying "set the document on the platen glass" the document is there but it keeps saying the message

The best way to scan images to save on yourcomputer is to use the scanner software on the computer. Not the scan functionon the scanner.
You don't say what type of scanner software you have but usually scannersoftware works this way:
1) Place photo on scanner
2) Open scanner software
3) Using the software, Initiate scan
4) Name the Scanned item and save it to your desired location/folder
Note: some applications will automatically save to --My Documents--My Pictures
5) Repeat process for each pic to be scanned

I have a canon MG5220 printer and unable to scan properly the messages I receive are saying Scanner turned off, disconnected from LAN, code 2,145,50. Printing pictures and all other printing jobs work...

Regarding the Cannon scanner error 2145,50. I note you have tried to fix this, but failed. The actual problem is that the scanner will not communicate with the computer correctly if it is connected through a USB hub. A direct connection to the computer cures it.
I know, I had that problem. I am a retired elctronics design engineer.

Black line in paper

On what operation are you receiving the black line in your paper?

This problem usually appears when you try to scan or copy using your ADF (automatic document feeder).
To remove this black line in your paper, clean the ADF platen glass in your printer and do as well in the flatbed scanner glass. This ADF platen glass can be found right below where the documents in the ADF goes through. Its a glass about 1 inch in with and beside the flatbed scanner glass (the one where your documents is lay down for copying and scanning. Dried ink or paper residue sticked in the glass can cause this line in the paper. Clean it with a a clothe and spray some windex on it.

Good luck!

Getting a black vertical line on paper when using top feed, does not do it when placed on scanner

Hi,

1. Check the Automatic Document Feeder for any debris (paper, lint, etc.)
2. Open the top cover to reveal the platen glass.
3. Look to the far left, you'll see a thin strip of platen glass seperate from the bigger plate where you place flatbed scans on.
4. Check the thin strip of platen glass for any marks (correction fluid, marker ink, etc.)
5. Wipe glass with a damp cloth and some Window cleaning detergant.

Does the line still appear now when you scan using the ADF?

:)

Got a dark line down document when scanner via AFD

When you use the adf, the scanner remains stationary at the far left side of the platen. Check and make sure that the glass is very clean there; use a damp cloth to remove any dirt or other foreign material.

When I make a photocopy I get a dark vertical line down the page. In fact, now I get two dark lines. It has something to do with the scanner, because it happens when I send someone a fax as well. ...

Do you use the automatic document feeder (ADF) when you photocopy and fax? Do you use the platen (lift the cover up) when you scan a document? If so, you probably have some dirt or foreign material in the ADF scanner area, which is a thin glass area to the left of the glass platen. Clean this area with a damp cloth and dry it before trying again. There is a plastic strip covering this area, and if this is scratched it can be removed and replaced.

2. Press the [Scan] button on the machine.
MP Navigator starts on the connected computer. You can scan in documents placed on the platen glass using MP Navigator.
