We recently purchased(from a friend) a whirlpool front load washing machine for our new kitchen, and for some reason it will only wash with hot water. When I turn off the hot water taps, no water enters the machine at all. We have had the plumber come around to check if there were any kinks or blockages in the pipes behind the kitchen cabinets and oven, however he advised that the cold water is reaching the machine. What do you think the problem could be.

The water inlet valve has likely failed. First check the screen inside the water inlet valve for debris. If it is clean you will need to remove the top cover and check to see if you have power going to the valve. If you do replace the valve assembly. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. My whirlpool washer died in the middle of a wash. It has a bad electrical smell. The coupling between thw motor and trani is not broke, but the motor is very hot. New motor?

IS IT A FRONT LOAD OR TOP LOAD MACHINE??? ONLY THE TOP LOAD MACHINES HAVE A COUPLER. THERE IS NO TRANSMISSION ON FRONT LOAD ONES....

IF YOU HAVE A TOP LOAD AND YOUR MOTOR IS HOT AND WON'T START, REMOVE THE PUMP ON THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR AND TRY IT AGAIN. IF THE MOTOR STARTS, IT IS PROBABLY BECAUSE YOUR PUMP IS STUCK OR DEFECT... IF THE PUMP IS OK, YOU MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR. MAKE SURE THE TRANSMISSION IS TURNING (ONE SIDE FOR WASHING AND THE OTHER SIDE FOR SPINNING)...

My washer is really loud and is bouncing around the kitchen we have just put new brushes in it as it stopped spinning but thats sorted now its got a mind of its own

Hiya,
Jumping washing machines are often caused by the simple things such as incorrect loading, when you purchased your machine it would have given you a load capacaty, for this machine i think it is quit large but it does have the options of extra settings 1 of which is a half load setting i would surgest you try a half load setting on 1 wash & see if this helps the idea behind this is that if your machine jumps even more than normal then you may be over filling it & if it reduces the amount of jumping then maybe you was under filling it, if the jumping remians the same then we can start to rule out reasons for the jumping.. that would be your starting point to resolve this problem.

Hope this helps

I've just moved house and my machine is not

Hello Friend, I think your machine will work properly if you add a water line splitter. You would connect to the single cold water tap and on the other end you would have two water hoses . Connect one hose to the cold water inlet of your washer and then connect the other hose to the hot water inlet. You can get these at Home Depot. Happy to help, Tim.

Whirlpool Duet Front Load

If you are using the recommended HE (High Efficiency) soap, you will not see alot of sudsing, this is normal. The washing action is very different than the top load machines. Excessive sudsing will cause issues with this machines operation.

Long wash cycles

WHEN YOU WASH IS THE WATER HOT ENOUGH IN A REASONABLE TIME? ALSO DOES THE WASHER SENCE THE AMOUNT OF SOAP THATS IN THE TUB. IT COULD BE GIVING ADDITIONAL RINCES TO REDUCE THE SOAP CONTENT.(TRY WITH NO SOAP IN SYSTEM AND SEE IF TIME IS SHORTER)
