Hi. I am pretty much sure that your Wii has no prblem. Just purchase a new adapter and werything will work fine. I suggest you buy international adapter (110-240v)

sounds to me like plug is wired wrong-there are 2 110v hot wires and one nuetral to make 220v-you'll have to look inside the machine to try and figure out which is which-next you'll have to figure out your outlet-just like the plug 2 hots-110v and 1 nuetral-match them all up and you'll be in bussiness mate-cheers Denny

Can i change the plug socket over from 110v to 240v supply on my HR2470T-1/1

It would not be OSHA approved if in the US in an industrial location.

While not recomended practice, it can be done in the US to run off of 4 wire 240. You are just connecting to one half of the 240 outlet.

If you are in the UK or elsewhere with 240/250 volt mains- do not do this, use a voltage reducing transformer instead..

In the US, the standard is 120 /240 Or put another way- a 240 volt circuit in the home in the US, has 2 120 volt branches that share a common return, the 240 is derived across the 2 "120 sources"- hence your 2 pole breakers on 240 volt branches. If the socket is 3 terminal- which was old code- ground and the return were common at the outlet, it is a matter of just making sure the 240 volt plug terminals the 120 volt drill gets attached to is the ground/return (the one with the nib on it to make it index correctly in the outlet- (should be the wide blade lead or white and one black in the drill goes to either"hot" side of the plug- either one will work, and only one. On a 4 wire outlet, which is new code- the return goes to the white wire of the drill. And the black goes to either one of the hot sides. If drill has conductive case and grounding wire- that should connect to the outlet ground.

Mark on plug which two blades are used, so if you take it somewhere else, you can check (which should be standard operating procedure) with a meter to make sure their outlet is wired correctly.

Turned on for a second, shut off, wont come back on

Ouch! This is not looking good for for this A/C if you were somehow able to plug it into a 240 volt outlet. Very few of these appliances have fuses or other overvoltage / overcurrent protective devices built in.

Electrical outlets are designed to reject plug connected appliances that (1) draw more current (or amps) than the circuit can safely provide, and / or (2) those appliances that operate on a different voltage than available at the outlet. So, it would be pretty hard to get a 120 volt appliance to plug into a 240 volt outlet - UNLESS you have "modified" the plug's prongs. Tearing out ground pins and / or twisting blades with pliers definitely falls into the "modified" category. It can also happen if a "handyman" installs a 120 volt configured outlet on a 240 volt circuit and simply tells you it is 240 v, not 120 v.

The compressor motor is probably toast, as are any electronics used to control the unit. Nothing is unrepairable though - it just comes down to how much you are willing to spend on fixing a 3 year old unit - compared to the cost of brand new.

I hope this helps - and good luck!

Bose Companion 5 110v/220v short circuit

The fact that everything but the power amp is still working, it could be only a fuse protecting the output that needs replacement although this fuse is probably circuit-wise after the main fuse you have already replaced and could be soldered on the board. Worst case, the output modules are blown and require replacement and depending on the power level it may be worth repairing instead of replacing.
Most modern electronic devices can be set or adapted to line voltages from 100-240 Volts and a good percentage of the devices, using the common switched mode power supply don't need any changes made by the user since they can be inherently 'auto-ranging.'

Will my Logitech X-230 speakers work in a country with 220-240 V power outlets or would i need an adapter to use them there? If i connect them directly to the 240 V outlet, will they run properly or would...

Check the back of your sub to check your voltage range. You will see something like this: 110V-120V or 110V-220V. If you see the later, you are ready to go. If you see 110-120V only, you will need a power converter to power your speakers as well as any other 110-120V equipment. But no matter what, if it is 110-120V DO NOT PLUG DIRECT TO 220V!! It will blow your speakers. (I lived in Germany for 11 years.)

I have plugged wii in 220 volt recepatacle though it was 110 volt what to do

Hello,

There are two possible scenario's when you accidentally plug a 110V device in a 220V outlet:
1: The power supply to the device you plug in gets fried. this is your best case scenario. See if you can borrow a Wii power supply from a friend and test your console with this power supply. If this works, you just need a new power supply and all is well.
2. Your Wii gets fried. Worst case scenario: your Wii got fried. If it is still in warranty, see if they will cover this damage under the manufacturer warranty, if not, I am afraid you will either need to pay for repairs or buy a new console.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but plugging a 110V device in a 220V outlet generally will fry one thing or the other or even both.

Thanks for using the FixYa forums!

Plugged US purchased Wii into Europe outlet with an adapter and n

You would need an adapter that not only runs at 120 or 240 volts, but also one that OUTPUTS 120v. The Wii may have some kind of protection in it if you're lucky (most people don't hook up US Wii's to 240v). But if not, you've killed your Wii. Check the adapter, if it has a fuse that's removable you should see a (usually) circular cap kind of thing on the brick you can unscrew and pull the fuse out.
As for what you would need to purchase, it would be something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Step-down-voltage-converter-240V/dp/B000L99ZJ2 would work perfectly. The Wii only draws at maximum 30watts and this unit does 100. Your TV on the other hand would need a higher wattage unit.

What will happen if it is plugged into a 220 volt AC

Hi there, it depends where you got your Wii from.

if your Wii was from japan or another country which uses only a 110v AC power supply then you could have either blown some fuses inside the wii or at worse you could have fried some of the internals.

First of all find out which adapter you where supplied with, check the voltage rating on the adaptor. if it is a 110v adaptor then you may need to have your Wii replaced.

Hope this helps

It sounds like what you are looking for is a Step up/Step down converter. I do not know of any laptops that come with a 240v adapter since most things here in the U.S. run on 110v.

Do a search on Google or such for a 240v 100v converter.
