Question about Computers & Internet
Try to locate WiFi switch on your laptop. It can be physical switch or can be soft (like Functional Key). Right now it's turned off.

It seems the two oval lights on the front of the Acer TravelMate
3003LCi are not only lights to indicate WiFi traffic, but also buttons
to turn the WiFi radio on and off for security reasons. If you press
and hold the left side button for 3-5 seconds it should turn back on
the WiFi radio. Windows XP (and maybe other OS’s) have a power saving
function that turns the radio off when not in use to save the battery,
so you have to use the buttons to turn the radio back on. Seems like a
pain in the @$$ to me, but it’s a clients laptop not mine so he will
have to live with that.
I hope this helps someone so they do not have to go through the frustration of trying to figure out why the radio has been turned off.

Before we have the wireless configuration discussion are you aware this computer has a WLAN on/off switch. I appears to be a recent feature to conserve battery live in some models.
Please reply if there are configuration isues you wish to discuss.

I hate to say it but you will always have problems with that key coming off...I would recommend that you search eBay for a broken laptop...same make and model as yours perhaps one with a broken lcd...usually you can pick them up for around $10.00. And then replace the whole keyboard.
If this is something you want to tackle yourself please feel free to contact me for step by step instructions.

It's asking for the radio switch to be turned on. Some machines have an actual button or slide type switch, it will be marked with a wireless icon that looks like an antennae with waves coming from the top. Machines that don't have a manual switch can be turned on and off by the utility program that controls the wireless card. There are several different ways of doing this depending on the program. If there is an icon on the right hand side of the task bar for the wireless configurator, right click on it and see if it has the option of turning on or enabling the radio. If there is no icon, but there is a program for the wireless, then open the program and look to see if the radio option is there. You may have to open an advanced tab to find it. If Windows configures the wireless and there is no program, then open the device manager, and in the wireless card properties you will find the radio options to enable it. Now, if the radio is enabled, but you have the same problem, then this is a driver glitch, and you will need to uninstall the wireless drivers and reboot. The machine will find the wireless and reinstall the drivers automatically. I know this sounds difficult and it can be rather frustrating, so if you have problems finding the radio enable options, just go straight to uninstalling the drivers. This generally clears it up. If not, get back to me and we'll see what else we can do.
