Click Start and Open the Control Panel 2. Go to System and Maintenance, Click on System. 3. Select Advanced System Settings and choose Advance tab. 4. Under Startup and Recovery, click on Settings. 5. Under System failure uncheck Automatically restart. Another cause for random reboots is that the computers processor is getting too hot. To check this, enter the computers bios during boot (usually by pressing Delete, F1 or F10 when the computer just starts) and there will be an option about the computers temperature (often under "PC Health"). When you plug in the ethernet cable the corresponding numbered indicator on the router should flash to indicate a LAN connection and some data flow from the router to the computer. This does not necessarily mean that there is data flow from the internet to your computer via the router. Simple check would be to use a smartphone and try and connect to WiFi on the router but restart the router first. If the smartphone is also having problems then the problem may be with your internet provider or the router. If the smartphone connects then restart the computer. If the computer still does not connect then try the following steps to refresh the computers IP address:
For Windows XP
Step 1
Click Start->Run, type cmd and press Enter.

Step 2
Type ipconfig /release at the prompt window, press Enter, it will release the current IP configuration.

Step 3
Type ipconfig /renew at the prompt window, press Enter, wait for a while, the DHCP server will assign a new IP address for your computer.

For Windows Vista& Windows 7
Step 1
Click Start on the task bar, type cmd into the search box and press Enter.

Step 2
Type ipconfig /release at the prompt window, press Enter, it will release the current IP configuration.

Step 3
Type ipconfig /renew at the prompt window, wait for a while, the DHCP server will assign a new IP address for your computer.

For Windows 8 & Windows 8.1&10
Step 1
Press windows key and X key at the same time. Then click at Command Prompt.

Step 2
Type ipconfig /release at the Command Prompt window, press Enter, it will release the current IP configuration.

Step 3
Type ipconfig /renew at the Command Prompt window, wait for a while, the DHCP server will assign a new IP address for your computer.

Hope that helps.

I have a new reformat pc from hp compaq d530. We I can't connect to the internet may be because there is no local area connection. What should I do?

first make sure that you have installed your lan driver and ethernet cable is connected from both end and there is power in your router. Now at command prompt type ipconfig and look for your ip address assinged manually or automatic.....

If you see any ip address try to ping the ip itself and then try to ping gateway..

at command prompt type
ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -t (your ip add)

similarly ping the gateway

if you get reply from ip and gateway then it should work.......do reply

Your ADSL port IP address will be set by your ISP and will be displayed on router status page. Your LAN port IP address is likely to be http://192.168.1.254
