The following advice pertains to the following magellan gps systems.

Magellan 800, 860, 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3050, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and 6000t

i fix these and many other magellan gps daily so when considering my advice , please understand i do not google my solutions.

assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while its plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read below (magellan 3000.3050 and the 6000 take about 10-15 seconds to start from the off position)

this is actually a very common problem with these magellan power ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then the factory port.

if your able to replace that power port yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that sells them for help.

due to some dubious "experts" on fixya, im not permitted to help you directly, but please follow the link above to get further help.

let me know if you need more help or info

My computer is starting up but it wont go any furthur, im wondering would anyone knoow what the problem maybe???

Possibilities:
* flaky AC power supply
* dying battery
* flaky motherboard, causing "intermittent" problems
* bad RAM, causing "intermittent" problems
* bad spots on the disk-drive, causing "intermittent" problems when reading/writing
* a messed-up installation of Microsoft Windows

Take the original "System Restore" set of CD-ROMs, and boot from them.
If it loads into the "system recovery environment", and asks you whether you really want
to reinstall Windows, STOP. If your computer gets this far, then several components:
* power supply
* battery
* RAM
* motherboard
* CD/DVD drive
probably are OK. This leaves the disk-drive as the "suspect",
and it leaves your possibly-messed-up installation of Windows as the other "suspect".

Set a bios password on my Toshiba L300. After long time being with my brother, i forgot the password. Now i can't access my windows. Just when i power it on, it asks for current password. What should i do...

The Cmos battery is a rechargeable soldered to the board component. Removing it is a skilled job and may damage the motherboard!
There is a link "*500" underneath the RAM. Link it out, whilst there is no power on the laptop! with a conductine small item like a small screwdriver or tweezwers.
BE CAREFUL!!!!!
Re boot the laptop.

The camera's clock battery has worn out. Unfortunately, on most Canon SD series, this battery is not user serviceable. Recommend contacting Canon to see if they'll replace it, hopefully at a reasonable cost. 1-800-OK-CANON

My Canon SD950is camera asks me to submit time/date info every time I turn on the camera. The manual says this means the internal battery is depleted and needs to be recharged. I have a fully charged...

Yes I get something similar with my Panasonic camera just because I take the battery out when the camera is waiting for the next outing, but it is ok as soon as I set the clock and if I leave the battery in. From what you said then perhaps the internal battery is faulty but if you don't usually leave the battery in, you could try leaving the battery in for a few days to see if that restores some power to the internal battery.

When I switch on the lens goes in and out a few times but no viewing screen. It asks to be switched off and then on. I can view stored pics but it won't allow me to take any?

Hi,

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

· Turn off the camera.

· Remove the battery pack.

· Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

· Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

· Reinsert the battery pack.

· Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the SET UP1 Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Thanks,

The screen goes black, but will come back for a while after I activate the "sleep" button, normally depressed by shutting the screen.

Try this, remove power, take out the battery, carefully remove the Ram, from under a flap under the laptop. Now reinsert RAM, carefully. Now reinsert battery, now connect up to power. Try restarting your laptop, if it asks you if you want to delete any, "Restore" points say.. yes. Hopefully the laptop will now be OK. If not get back to me.

How do i reset a cmos/bios pasword on a compaq presario 2100. i forgot and can not boot the computer compaq service no help

The power on password is a little harder to break in laptops than desktops and this tip may or may not help. Each computer manufacturer is different in how they set thier systems up. Disassemble the laptop down to the chassis where the RTC battery can be seen in its socket. Make sure that all power is removed from this device and remove the RTC battery. Let the motherboard sit without the battery in it for up to one hour. replace the RTC battery and reassemble the laptop. Do not put the main system battery in just yet, power on only with the AC adapter. Power the laptop up and if it asks for a password, just hit enter, if it still asks you for a password, type in "clear". If it still wants a password, then the only other option is to "short" the two contacts in the battery socket for the RTC battery, using a small wire to jump the positive and negative points in the socket, make sure nothing else is touched or you will Nuke your motherboard. With the battery contacts "shorted" power the motherboard up with the AC adapter, wait approx 1-2 minutes allowing the motherboard to post. Shut the board down, and follow the previos procedures for reassembly and powerup.

Battery wont charge

I would guess your power cord is ok if it brings that up.......so you need to buy a new battery.....it was probably damaged (wet, etc...) or it is just shot!

N4VMC asks, will dead internal battery prevent 910 from coming on when on external power?

Even with a dead battery it should come on when an external power is supplied. If it doesn't try doing a reset using a straightened paper clip.
