HI,

it might be because it's formatted in NTFS, the PS3 will only recognize FAT32.So please format it to fat32

Goodluck..

It's a small portable drive that plugs into the a usb port on your ps3 and you need one to save the files you are trying to download because your hard drive is probably full.

Either try deleting some old unneeded files off your ps3 or if you want you can pick one up here if you need one:

You should try to take out your hard drive and blowing any dust off of it and reinserting it back into the system. The Hard Drive is located on the left side of the unit behind a rectangular door. You will need a small screwdriver.

If this does not work for you, you will need to replace your hard drive.

When you replace your hard drive, you will need to have the latest firmware on a

usb stick. Download the firmware from the playstation official website onto a usb

stick. Once prompted by your system you will need to insert the usb stick into the

PS3. Good luck..

No sound, now the conrtoller doesnt connect

You gotta hook the controller back to the system via the usb cord and then press the PS button. Finish the format.

Let me know if you still have problems afterwards.

PS3 not recognizing my portable Hard drive

Make sure that the file system on the harddisk in FAT32, other file systems are not suported by the PS3.
If the file system is not FAT32, the ps3 won't even try to read the disk.

You should reformat your harddisk into fat32, use google to findt a tool that can do the formatting for you becouse windows xp and up are only supporting
formating in fat32 up to 40GB.

Succes.

Adding music from your ipod to your PS3

You cannot transport files from your iPod to your PS3. You can use a USB flashdrive, SD Card, or Memory stick though.

PS3 auto-detects my flash drive, go to the music section highlight your flash drive and hit Triangle. And then click on Display all. When you find the song you want, hit Triangle again and click on copy.

Done!

Its not reading the disks

Yeah this same thing happened to me, I had not played the PS3 in a while, my 2 sons 6 and 12 play it more than me!. Anyway one day I went to put a disc in, and low and behold it wouldn't read the disc!. Next thing I know I'm getting an error message saying "needs to rebuild database". It was unable to rebuild the database and instructed me to reformat the hard drive!, well I didn't reformat it, instead I turned off the system, unplugged all the cords and let it sit for 24 hours. When I hooked it back up, the error message disappeard and it was reading discs again! HURRAY!!!. What I'm going to do, and you might want to as well is, invest in and external USB hard drive. They sell them at Best Buy for around $100.00. The PS3 has a backup utility, but you need somewhere to back it up to. I'm not sure if any USB external hard drive will work, but you might want to check into it. Hope this helps.

Playing mp3 songs on the ps3 --- 80gb

Whether you are hooking up your device through a USB cable or removable memory (SD card/Flash drive) the PS3 should recognize and play the titles. Here are a few steps to help you along.

1. Hook up device to your PS3

2. Select PS3 media icon where files files should be located

3. Press triangle button on controller

4. Sub menu will show up on side of screen

5. Select the 'display all' option

6. Files should now be accessable/loadable/playable

Playing files directly from the Mp3 player or loading them on the hard drive are both do-able and both methods should work.
