I own a 1999 Saturn. I can start it and drive maybe a mile or two and if I come to a stop it will die on me. I does not spit and sputter it is almost as if someone has turned off the key. I can not start it back up at this point. We have tried to push start it, this does not work. After trying to push start it I can usually start it with the key. I'm not sure if this is because it has cooled down some or what. I can also get it to start back up right away by spraying starting fluid. We have changed spark plugs and fuel filter, changed temp censor, made sure the carberator was clean and not gunked up, checked the egr to make sure it is clean. It only happens when it is luke warm. Once it is heated up it is fine. It cranks but wont start after dieing out on me. Do you have any idea what this could be?

Sounds like your fuel pump is going out cuase not getting fuel and dies if filter was replaced how long ago fuel filter replaced becuase if you have got bad gas could have clogged fuel filter again with debris try this turn the key to start position but dont start it and see if you can hear the fuel pump and if it is weak hope this helps turn key off then on wait till fuel pump kicks off then do it again then try start it if starts right away is a weak fuel pump cuase manually priming it

    why does it only do it when it is luke warm? between 1/8 and 1/4 of the way up on the temp gage. Would it be a censor?

    ok i have some things i want you to try it sounds to me like you have a clogged fuel injector try this get a good can of fuel injector cleaner and put that in the gas and or try taking the fuel injectors themselves and cleaning them taking them off the using soaking them in gasoline and clean the sprayer in them any debris out heres why i say this because when car is cold starting it the debri has settle to bottom of injecter but then you start car and it sprays warms up little and from movement the debri moves and settles blocking the injecter one bad injector will shut down the car and see if this fixes the probelm but there sounds like sounds stopping fuel flow this sounds like the problem

Clean throttle body, change fuel filter, plugs, and definately plug wires.

Egr seems to be common problem with these.

1995 Jeep grand cherokee is missing while running. When it is under a heavy load (driving fast) it runs fine. When idleing and slow driving it spits and sputters.

I have the same problem on my 95 grand cherokee laredo. Sometimes it starts out fine and after about 10 miles it starts spitting and sputtering. Then after a while it seems to clean out and run fine again for a little while. Then other times it starts out spitting and sputtering at the begining. I changed the fuel filter and that was not it. It is a 4.0L 6cyc. Any Ideas?

Have you tried a new fuel filter? Or try putting two bottles of heat or fuel line cleaner in your tank some times when the tank gets low theres moisture or debris in the tank when it gets that low some times its good to run it completely dry and start over on a full tank. Maybe check the oxygen sensor or the catilletic convertor.

After driving about 3 to 5 mile when there has been alot of rain the engine starts running real rough spitting and sputtering--if you floor it it takes off as long as you keep it floored--doesn`t stall...

Engine light could be from the spitting and sputtering, sounds to me like maybe bad spark plug wires, possible an ecm issue, what kinda code is it giving you when the engine light comes on?
