Landlord painted kitchen sing with enamel sink paint and now it is chipping off and looks terrible. How can it be fixed?

Jan 2013
Remove paint with stripper maybe, otherwise Replace sink is only solution.
The etching and paint process for applying coatings to sinks and tubs is temporary fix, and will only last a year or two.
Report problem to landlord since he may have gotten a warranty on paint product, but don't wait for a magic cure to appear, because this is not magic, it's a failed paint job and paint has to be removed or sink replaced.

My Swanstone sink is sixteen years old and still in very good condition except for a small chip. The sink is a cream color with black and white specks. Is there any way to repair the sink?

You should be able to have a competent repair or restoration specialist from a reputable granite or marble fabrication shop come to your home and fix the problem. If it is a very small chip (less than an eighth of an inch around, my first try would be super glue. Keep in mind the fill will be fairly clear in color, which may match the dark specks, if not use an indelible marker after you smooth the glue to color it black. Use the gel type super glue if it is on a vertical portion of the sink, otherwise use a thinner variety. Clean the chip with sop and water, let it dry then use rubbing alcohol to remove any grease or oil residue. Use a masking type tape to isolate the chip so you have less work once the glue dries. Fill the chip and once the glue is dry, use a single edge razor (Use extreme caution, razors are by nature sharp) to gently scrape, not cut the glue flush to the sink surface. The manufacturers of these sinks claims they are difficult to scratch, but pay attention to your pressure or you might create scratches on the sink itself. Hold the blade perpendicular to the surface of the sink and take your time scraping the dried glue down changing to a fresh blade often. If the chip is in a radius area of the sink, you will have to be a bit more creative and probably use steel wool to remove the excess dried glue. I would start with #000 and see how that works, maybe using #00 to start the process and finish with #000 or #0000 steel wool to match the finish of your sink. If your chip is larger than an eighth of an inch around, I would recommend hiring a repair and restoration specialist from a competent granite fabrication shop to make a color matched epoxy to fill the blemish.

When i start up the xbox it has no video, only sound.

Its possible for you to fix the problem your self.
how ever the fix may not last long .

Ok hear we go

find a video on how to strip the box down to the P.C. board.
pull the board out of the chaise by the small heat sink only
do not disturb the big heat sink at all or you will break the
seal an get 2 reds ( over heating)

Now that you have the main board in your hand
flip it over a carefully very carefully pry off the x clamp
bracket holding down the small heat sink for the G.P.U.

remove the heat sink from the board ,take out the four
studs under the heat sink . clean the gray heat sink off
the top of the two chips with rubbing alcahole ,do the
same with the heat sink then apply some heat sink compound
to the chips place the heat sink back on the chip
get four 10-32 by 3/8 long and EVENLY screw down
the heat sink Not too tightly ( snug not tight) .

Put the unit back together ,leave out the white fan
shroud plug everything back in and leave the fan
hanging out .

Now plug in the power and a/v cable place and hold
the fan over the Large heat sink for C.P.U. and turn on
the power .I should take 4-5 min till the fan gets up
to full then another 3-5 min to over heat Two red light
be ready to unplug the second this happens .
let it cool down for about 15-20 min and you should
have restored your video feed. I cant say how
long it will last .

if you have any questions feel free to email me

Rob

Take some heat sink compound
that you can buy from raido shack

now that that you have the main P.C. board in your hand.

Deep scratches on blanco granite sink

The only way to fix scratshes and chips from a granite surface is to use a sander. You would be safer to have the company thet installed it, resurface it. They have the proper equipment.

Are you talking about the heat sink?  The chips normally screw on to this "board" you're talking about? (silver, aluminum looking?)  I dont want to speculate here but did you use heat sink compound (also know as thermal grease)on the chips?  If so, the answer to your question for a known fix would be: you have a heat problem and all you might need to do is get some 5 dollar heat sink compound and get a quick fix.  Meaning, apply some of that stuff between the chips and the heat sink.
